CMO - NEW PUBLIC BETA (Current: Build 1468)

Post by SamSlitherine »

Hi Everyone,

We have just put out a Public Open Beta on Steam. Head into the properties section and opt into the beta branch, it will become available to download.
This update is the culmination of a months-long endeavour to consolidate our development branches on a stable, solid release and address the various significant issues reported earlier this year on the B1328.xx series. We have received very positive feedback on the result during internal testing, and we hope this also applies to our wider public userbase.

Because this is a release focused on quality improvement and issue fixes, there are only a few new additions. The most significant are:

* A revised HTML-rendering backend, using Microsoft's new WebView2 rendering engine. You should notice improved HTML rendering on the DB-viewer and other UI elements that use HTML sources. This also aloows richer custom UI elements at the beginning of a scenario (e.g. to define custom options for the scenario, difficulty settings etc.)

* Indicators for aircraft contrails and ship/submarine wakes can be displayed on the map, under a unit's datablock. This makes it easier for the player to be more aware that his units may be visually detected at significantly longer ranges because of these factors. These indicators can be disabled on the "Game Options" window (similar to noise & cavitation indicators) if they clutter the map unacceptably.
To clarify something: Contrails and wakes have been part of the simulation engine since CMANO's original 2013 release. This change simply adds visual indicators for them.

* The new update also includes the long-awaited new releases of the DB3000 & Cold-War DB databases (yes, the AIM-174B is included in v507).

Well, at least something to read for the non steamers.

But what about the bugs fixing list?

A lot of Chinese stuff in the new dbs.

DB3K_506 includes the following entries.
Person In Water -- Generic (Generic), Alive
Person In Water -- Generic (Generic), Deceased

I think this is the first human casualty in the game.

Will there be a pic?

I've been waiting for months to play my favourite game again! I just bought a new book too and now I don't have time to read it :x

If you have purchased at the MG store, you are also entitled to a free Steam key (details: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 1&t=264748 )
But what about the bugs fixing list?
There is no detailed rundown this time, sorry. We did give priority to the issues most consistently reported here the last few months, so do give it a try. Thanks!

Thanks for the answer Dimitris.

But steam is like the "Big Bother", and not for everyone.

I will wait for the Matrix patch :)

And those are only the new entries! You'll find in 506 that every single Chinese aircraft has been ripped out and rebuilt from the ground up to our new, higher standards of detail (they don't show up in the changelog because they're technically using the same old DBIDs). Likewise, in 507, we gave the same treatment to all the PLAGF facilities/units.

See this post on the ongoing China review for more details.

Well done.

Once the russians have lost all of their mojo, vs China is where the future conflict will be, cold or hot :)

My first impression of the update, I noticed that the sensors of the plane (RWR Radar Warning Reciwer), which have an average range of 120 miles, - in most cases they do not see radars, which have operating bands A.
is it meant to be, or is it some kind of mistake ?

Thanks.

Did someone noticed there are new "Seaplane" ship type? Are they just for placeholder?

Noticed that myself, I wonder if the larger update, or a future one, is going to add water-borne takeoffs/landings, for full seaplane operations.

This sounds like probable WAD, as most non-ELINT RWRs do not cover such a low frequency range.

If you consider this a likely bug, please post a save for investigation on the tech support forum.

Similarly, for any other issues please open new threads on tech support as described here: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 0&t=255656

Thanks.

I added them because I wanted to play with seaplanes. I have a really nifty lua script that converts aircraft into a ship (landed seaplane). Lot's of literatures out there about the potential for seaplanes to be used for logistics, as tankers, long range CSAR, or as USV tenders in the Pacific.

They should not be interpreted as an an overhaul with full seaplane operations is forthcoming. It's possible, we've discussed it internally before, but other things have the priority at the moment.

I didn't see any request for it on github. Was it entered under another name?

Thanks for the reply. I will do so, as this is a very important technical error.
