I played the two Russian mini-campaigns. I was thinking I would like a longer "what if" version of Khalkhin Gol if Japan went more in with more army to contest it fairly and more long term like they did in China. Maybe not possible with their limited assets. Manchuria was much more dreadful where the Russians ground up our weak units like hamburger but we held on futilely for the scoreboard victory knowing we were utterly doomed.
I am playing the Japan full campaign now for the first time and it is really wonderful with deep thinking involved and it is very realistic. I like the paid projects like the garrisons we can buy for Burma and Thailand and Nanjing which makes the game run smooth and historical. The feature of setting some allies on AI control is very fun for me like for the allies they have a half dozen or so nations they can turn to AI control but Japan is alone in this one which is historical of course but next I want to play an allied campaign maybe playing as Britain and China and put the rest like USA and Australia on AI control and give Japan a few bonuses in the set-up so that would be a hard allied game I think cause I know the AI in these games is very smart.
Thanks for this game. I will return to my war now. Japan needs my leadership in this harrowing struggle as we fear the deadly USA response to our attacks on them at Pearl and Manila.
