BREAKAWAY 7

Post by PeterStep »

Final positions – holding on. Canadian units in west stayed put and did not engage. Counterattack from the east was contained.

Observations and Comments.

It was a damned close run thing.
Harder without arty smoke – was this intentional?
Canadian inf tend to mount up before moving in urban areas and M113 very vulnerable. Can SOP be set to keep defenders dismounted even when forced to relocate? Made the task in and around Rottingen easier.
Overstacking – think I saw a couple of instances where HQ and MR sub unit breached limits. MR unit continued to move but HQ stayed put and did not move to next waypoint.
AI helo not very smart – seemed to be straight in and out even when MANPADS had been active on path. Not much sign of air support, likely due to visibility or concealment/denial of observation.

Other side of the hill

Playing as Canadian when the Soviets tried to come through the front door. Decisive victory

Peter,

thanks for posting this AAR and providing feedback on the scenario. Nice read, good planning, congrats on the solid result.

Are you aware that you can load your planning graphics as background overlay (Staff menu, mission graphics functions), to help tell the AAR story or support you in game play.

Thanks William.

I had seen a thread about mission graphics using Inkscape or paint.net on the PC but found them a bit complex. In the end I found Sketch book for Android easier to use on my tablet with the s-pen, so this was a tryout for that. Havent got round to working out how to move an overlay back to the game easily yet - I'm sure there will be a way.

Cheers

Peter
