Thanh Phu Island scenario

Post by HobbesACW »

If folks, I have just started the Thanh Phu Island scenario. I was confused by the briefing given in game below:

EXECUTION
Engage and defeat the Ranger group that has landed to the south. If outnumbered, pull back, and ambush the Rangers where possible. Use the transports to escape the island if the situation becomes untenable. If the situation becomes untenable, retreat across the river at the northern crossing area, toward hex 19,70. Once across move your troops to Ap Kieng Gong.

I can't find a location called Ap Kieng Gong near 19,70 or anywhere on the map. I thought I would check the scenario files to see if they would give me any clues. Strangely the .lua file contains different text to the above:

EXECUTION
Engage the Government forces where they land. Don't let them get a foothold.
Withdraw from the island if the situation deteriorates badly enough. Advancing through the ARVN Civil Guard units to the south would probably be the easiest way out.

Any idea what is going on here?

Thanks,
Chris

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with this particular scenario. Jason's back this coming weekend, maybe someone else can chip in meanwhile?

Thanks Petri. I'll go with the second text. But maybe there is a problem with the game that Jason can check.

Having said that. Advancing through the ARVN Civil Guard units to the south would probably be the easiest way out causes me more confusion. Do I exit the island to the east or west. After that if I advance to the south where am I advancing to?

Also many locations on the map have numbers in brackets after the location name. What do these numbers signify?

Sorry about that.

The Hex Cooridinate is correct to assemble, 19,70 but then the village name should be Ap Giong Ke(1) (around hex 17,80) is where the units should head to for the bonus points.

Also many locations on the map have numbers in brackets after the location name. What do these numbers signify?
Villages were named like Ap Giong Ke and then broken down into different hamlets, such as Ap Giong Ke (1), Ap Going Ke (2), etc.
