Upgrade TOE

Post by jgilber01 »

Hi,

I was wondering when editing TOE units in the editor (the unit ID's that other game units use to form their weapon devices) , does "Delay" date mean when the TOE will switch to the next TOE (Upgrade TOE)? Or is there another date that triggers the new TOE for unit using that TOE ID to be impemented?

Also, there use to be documentation on how the various game mechanics work. I remember printing these out many years ago and they covered topics like how supply/fuel/Heavy Industry works, engine and airframe upgrades/supply/etc, and many more topics. It covered many different game mechanics. Are these still posted somewhere?

Thank you
John

I'm unclear as to what you are referring too. Are you referring to location slot 2000-2899 which are the toe slots or ground unit slots 3005-7999? A pic would help.

I understand like this.
'Delay' for locations is either the date it becomes available or it can be the number of days until arrival.
TOEs themselves do not update.
Ground units can update from the TOE listed in the 'Upgrade TOE' box from the date that TOE becomes available.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the reply. I am speaking about the location slots 2000-2899 when the refer to a "Upgrade TOE". What triggers the date that the actual units would move from the TOE to upgrade TOE. For example in scennario 1, 2511 is the 1941 infantry Div TOE for USA. When would the upgrade TOE be triggered for those units that have TOE 2511? In this scenario the "upgrade TOE" is 2512. In the TOE 2511 the "Delay" is shown as "420701" so how does this work? When do units following TOE 2511 switch to 2512?

AFAIK, 420701 is date (July 1, 1942), after that new TOE will become in effect.

That is what I assumed but I tried to update this in an ongoing game and it wouldn't take affect (I put the delay at the day after my current in game day). I uploaded the changes to the scenario, accepted the changes into my save game, ran the game into the next day and the new Upgrade TOE did not trigger. I assume it must only occur if you make the changes and start a new game (will not affect saved games)..

There are some things that you can edit that will take effect in save game, but not all.

Delay for ground unit is the date at which that ground unit enters the game.

Delay for a TOE is the date that that TOE upgrades to a newer version. In your example any unit using TOE 2511 will upgrade to 2512 on 1 July 42.
