[Q] Deep Rebuilding DLCs

Post by Knightpawn »

Being new to this sim, I am currently going through Chains of War scenarios. I noticed that the DB3K version is 504. Do you recommend doing a Deep Rebuilt in the scenarios (question applicable for all DLCs)? What are the risks?

On Matrix scenarios I would not rebuild. The scenarios are typically tuned to the exact db. But...I have done it where I want to play around in the editor a little. Create a back up.

I periodically rebuild the official scenarios for release. The biggest thing to be aware of is to make sure you properly apply the associated ini files, this file applies any unit modifications (magazines, mounts, etc.) that the scenario designer made.

You should also be aware that if you run the SBR routine, that it will use a massive amount of memory due to what appears to be a memory leak. I updated all the official scenarios in batches yesterday. Even doing 2-3 DLCs at a time was using 99% of my 32GB of memory. The memory will not be freed up until you you exit Command.

A further question:

When deep rebuilding certain scenarios I get a pop up message that certain a/c configurations do not exist under the new DB. This does not affect the completion of the deep rebuilding.
The question is what is the effect of this discrepancy on the affected aircrafts

I think the obvious answer is check those units in the editor and see if the loadouts survived. Thats what I do.

I am too lazy to restore the files back to the originals, then rebuilt and take note of the units mentioned in the pop up and do comparisons. I reckoned it is easier if I asked first and hopefully get a quick answer ;)

They should be fine. I usually just ignore those messages.
