Falklands DLC

Post by kch »

I am really enjoying playing the Falklands DLC, but I find that some of the scenarios are cut a bit short, because I rapidly reach a scoring threshold. If it is intentional then I think that the scenarios should be allowed to run at minimum xxx hours so that scenarios dont end abruptly early on.

>> Spoiler. Operation Sutton, I never actually face any Argentinean attacks from the mainland since the scoring closes the scenario after relatively easily shooting down the Pucaras and MB 329s launched from the Falklands airfields. Is this intentional? I get the feeling that with fewer points awarded then the scenario would be more fun and last longer.. >>

To be honest, you are better-off playing the scenarios in stand-alone mode, rather than as a campaign. This avoids such problems and also saves you the frustration of having to 'pass' each scenario before you can play the next one.

Good point. It is just a shame that they don't build in a bit more advanced trigger when it seems relatively easy.

The pass score is a bit frustrating, especially since you will learn from the first play through and anticipate quite a lot of the action.

June 8th 1982: At the last minute, the UK cancels a mission to use two RAF Buccaneers, guided by a Nimrod and refuelled by Victor Tankers from Ascension, to carry out a strike against the ARA Veinticinco de Mayo in port, with AJ-168 Martel missiles & eight 1,000lb bombs...
2) The plan was to destroy the carrier's radar at range, then to move in and render her useless, before the Buccaneers flew on to Chile. The use of such a mission is questionable, but would have been a moral victory which, the UK decides at the last minute, will not be needed.

Please also note this comment:
Only ever a proposal. No Buccaneers deployed to Ascension - bit of a stretch to say it got cancelled at the last minute. By the way, there was more than one type of Martel missile - the AJ-168 was a TV guided one as used for ship attack by 12 Sqdn, not anti-radiation.

But maybe a nice idea for CMO?
