Returning player- cannot disband fleets

Post by CyrusSpitama »

Hiya folks. Wow my last message here was in 2015. Well, finally back to play this beauty a little bit and I noticed the new 1.28official patch so I downloaded it. Sadly, this meant my cache of Chemkid's maps wouldnt function but, I started a new scenario 2 on the Japan side. Been fiddling with resolutions ( still havent quite found the right one) and have tried fullscreen and windowed options. The windowed options seems to run a little better but are too small. The fullscreen options I can get to render properly arent ideal. Long story short, while my resolution issues remain unsettled I have discovered a serious nagging issue with all of my setting adjustments:

Note: I am familiar with switch usage and decided to use the SeaBee app to assist with easier adjustments.

I looked around and seem to be able to confirm other decisions. I cannot disband a fleet however. The YES or NO option does not highlight and cannot be clicked anywhere on the popup. My only option is to press ESC and close the window. Any clues for this behavior?

This issue has been the source of much discussion about .28 and I have a feeling it's about to begin again

You have to press the Y button to agree to disband. That system was already in the game for other critical decisions so it was used for the disbanding one without any change. That means clicking on the Y is not enough.

Thanks for the quick fix. Certainly did not mean to dig into any sore topics :) I do remember the Y or N option being present in the past for some decisions ( planes as I recall). It has been a few years since I had last patched my game up to current standards. I am talking nearly 10 years and perhaps 5 or 6 since last loading up the game. Turn 1 for JPN is still progressing and I am slowly remembering a lot of the game.

Cheers and see you on the high seas ( or the Chinese jungles if you prefer) !

If you want to use those older and modified maps but with the latest .exe, just save the old .exe as a .bak file just in case then copy and paste the new .exe into the older folder.

EDIT

Ok, after reading the other posts again and trying it in game, you do not hit the yes with the mouse, you hit the Y key on the keyboard. I read in the post; the y button which I mistakenly assumed was the mouse clickable yes. Sorry for the useless post. Still a strange choice to make it mouse clickable if you are supposed to confirm with a key press

Hello all,
I am also having the same issue with disbanding a TF. I would say I am new to this game even though I have owned it since 2010 as I never had time to learn to play it.
I installed 1.8.11.28.4 with the Seabee loader similar to OP but with a slighter higher powered rig.
I am using Kulls setup (although there are some differences with this version but whatever, its a long war) and watching the Strategy Gaming Dojo Youtubes (about 20 hours worth so far). I have put countless days into the Kull setup and am now discovering the disbanding error.
When I try to disband the TF, I select yes but the box freezes and nothing else is selectable to exit the box. The only way is to force quit (which after not saving for a couple of hours of setup grinding is very frustrating).
Strangely, I can select the change commander box but then my screen is locked to that box with no way to exit.

It seems as though several have encountered this error, but was there a solution that I missed?
Thank you for any assistance in this matter.

Y and N key is the solution, a solution that should not exist.
