Rebellions and independence movements

Post by thedoctorking »

Is there any historical context to rebellions and independence movements in this game? I would think that by the 1960s, almost all colonies should have moved for independence or actually been granted it. Or, let's say, after any war that lasts more than a couple of years and/or includes a majority of the player nations. Countries that lose those major wars should lose almost all their colonies and the ones that win should lose many of them. And new opportunities to gain colonies should be very rare after 1930 or so. Maybe you could include an option for basing rights in former colonies that are granted their independence peacefully vice having them rebel and win. This will encourage people to build ships with long endurance.

If you have basing rights in a region, either through this former colony mechanism or because you have an ally with bases in that region, you should be able to appoint an admiral.
