Newbie -wargamer- question

Korsun Pocket is a the second game using the award winning SSG Decisive Battles game engine. Korsun Pocket recreates the desperate German attempt to escape encirclement on the Russian Front early in 1944. The battle is a tense and exciting struggle, with neither side having a decisive advantage, as the Russians struggle to form the pocket, then try to resist successive German rescue efforts and last ditch attempts at breakout.

Newbie -wargamer- question

Post by bostonrpgmania »

I was away from KP for my job
Now try to back to the game and CGW's duel was a great help in understang general wargame strategy.

BTW, I made every possible silly mistake newbie gamers can make
I noticed that my unit refused to move---later I noticed that there was a tiny river without bridge!!

So before playing game again I would like to investigate the map throughly

How could I save just the map without any units on the screen?
Can I enlarge it to examine?
Thanks

This question has been asked alot.. maybe we should get a FAQ together. Start up a game, press U to remove the units from the map and then press ALT-P and it will dump the map into your Korsun Pocket Directory to a file called something like MapdumpXX.bmp

You can then view this file (of the WHOLE map) in an image viewing program like ACDSee - and you can zoom in and out etc..

Whoosh!
Isn't that bizarre?

thank you very much for the tip
It would be really helpful if there is newbie faq kind of thread.
IN fact, I have learned a lot about strategic consideration of KP by reading duel article in CGW...(Where Tom who gave the game 4 star in computer games was beaten by Bruce who gave the game 5 star in CGW :)

I have updated the files section of Run5 to include the unit (OOB) data for both Korsun Pocket and TAO3.

Oops Sorry! Its Cnt-P I always get them mixed up and when I want to dump (a map that is) I end up pressing both combinations of keys (alt-p and cnt-p) to make sure it happens.

I just tested it though and its ALT-P again sorry for that.

There is a shortcut key diagram in the files area of Run5 - our friends at the wargamer created it.
