Here's a selection of some of the links I have in my favourites. You might find them useful, or not :).

You will need to rename the file to "bookmarks.html" to view it in Explorer.

Here's another good one. The World War II Armed Forces Orders of Battle by Dr. Leo Niehorster is in the above list in an archived version, but in the last couple of weeks it has come back online at a new address.

http://www.orbat.com/site/ww2/drleo/index.htm

This really is an excellent site and well worth a look.

Indeed Steve, this is a damn good site. The only thing though is that when looking at the German OOBs, you need to get accustomed to these weird German symbols [:)]

By the way though, why is it that I have so much problem finding it a good OOB/TOE for Waffen SS panzer divisions? I have found OOB/TOE for SS panzer grenadier divisions, but the most notorious SS divisions (LAH, Das Reich, etc.) were converted as panzer divisions later during the war and I suppose their OOB/TOE was changed accordingly. But I can't find good sources for this. I usually only get the OOB/TOE of June 1941, when they were still panzer grenadiers.

Tzar007 say what you are searching for (if you want, offcourse) and we can try to help you.

However, In general the OOB for a SS-Pz Div is the same of a Heer Pz Div only that it has one extra mot pzgren bn per pzgren regiment, sometimes with an attached nebelwefer bn, and a fourth panzer co in each pz bn (contrary to the only 3 panzer coys per bn), mainly these are the difference. Apart of the priority when we talk about refitting equipment and men (also better fitted, but quality decreased along the war due to manpower shortages, however you wouldn't see an "stomach battalion" in a SS division for sure).

Anyway the Order of battle of the Waffen-SS should have more or less what you are searchign for (I think it's offline now).

Although they don't quite go down to the level I need for estabs, unit histories for German units often have the sort of information you need to construct a reasonable OB in the ScenMaker. For example "Die Leibstandarte" by Rudolf Lehmann is quite good (if a bit hard to read) and I am sure similar books for "Das Reich" and so on would be equally useful.

Dr Niehorster is, I believe, due to publish the next instalments of his German Organisational Series, which will be IIRC for 1942. He is well worth a read. Also, Niklas Zetterling wrote a book which I haven't got a copy of or been able to find in a library myself - but his website, which contains just a small fraction of the material from the book, is outstanding and I imagine the book would be even better.

"Normandy 44 An Statical Analisys" (I think it's called, don't have the book now) is a must have if you want to make an scenrio about the normandy campaing with accuracy for the german side.

If you click on the word "book" in my post above, you'll get the title - it's a link to the Amazon.com page for Zetterling's book.

Jeez, I didn't notice their was a link hidden under "book" in your post. It's weird that this bulletin board software does not underline words for which hyperlinks have been done.

I was specifically looking for OOB and TOE of Waffen SS panzer divisions. Unfortunately the web site Waffen SS OOB is down these days so that's why I was looking elsewhere. I have a very good book about the Battle of Bulge with detailed OOBs. I should be able to dig in this one to find enough info for the Waffen SS OOB.

That's Niklas site :) the author of the book we were talking about.

I would compare it to other statical analisys made about eastern front battles by Glantz for example.

Thanks guys,

I think I have find enough info now to be able to build a realistic OOB with these sources and also by cross-checking with the OOBs made by Panther in the game scenarios.
