Getting confused

Post by Hard Sarge »

okay so far I like the game very much, but, I am confused

trying to play campaign 18, click on Sparta, and while playing I noticed I Wasn't getting Spartan troops, later while reading parts of the manal, I see that you can get a ramdom side to play, so start the game over, do a lot of clicking and finally get Spartan Greeks as my side, start to play, and in a few turns, I get the chance to build Horse Armourers Guild, which should not be buildable as the Spartans ???

go to Campaign 17, and can't even get Spartan Greeks, default is Aclive (? spelling)

don't seem right to try and play a game as a "type" of nation, and can't get the right kinds of troops ?

am I doing something wrong, or are the Spartan troops not in GoT ????

In Gates of Troy most of the scenarios are taken back in time to pre history Greece. At this time the Spatans did not have a distinct military practice and therfore are not allocated a group of their own, but part of.... I forget which one, Pelegasian or Argive?

If you play the modified grand campaign with Rome and Persia you WILL get to play the Spartans as a distinct ethnic group with Spartiate wariors.

You can also hit the random button to mix up the starting ethnic groups and cycle through the ones available in that campaign.

Hope this helps!

Hi Iain
thanks for the reply, kind of thought it might be something like that, a little screwy, but understandable
