Frank Hunter's Campaigns on the Danube is an operational study of the campaigns along the Danube in 1805 and 1809. Campaigns on the Danube's system focuses on trying to present the player with the same sort of decisions placed on their historical counterparts; how to feed an army and move that army according to a plan, all the while trying to fight a campaign. There is also an option to allow players to play out the battles with miniatures and input the results.

Suggestions

I have played a couple games of this now, and I'm still most impressed. I hope to enjoy it even more as a PBEM game.

I do have several suggestions, however.

The first is that the intelligence report be made to display on the map. To elaborate, push a button and the enemy force estimates show up in the appropriate locations on the Big Map. You see, it would make it easier for me to analyze this intelligence as a map display. This does not have to run at the same time as the regular display.

A second suggestion is that supply wagons should be visible even in the higher levels of Fog of War, though obviously with the same restrictions as seeing your own units. It would seriously ease planning an offensive if I could guess how far behind the units their supply is lagging!

Another suggestion would be harder to program, but would still be worth-while. A playback feature showing corps locations after the game is over would be a lot of fun, and would show us what happened after it is all over.

Yours,
James D. Gray
