PBEM version incompatibility?

Post by esteban »

Hi:

My PBEM partner is reporting that he is getting a message about how the turns I am sending him are not running, and he is getting a "looking for best fit" message.

He is running version 1.01. I just bought the game recently, and I downloaded version 1.01. So what is the reason for the problem?

I have re-installed my digital dowload version 1.01 BiN, and then I downloaded patch 1.01 just to be sure. I guess we will have to restart our PBEM game, because now the directory recognition is messed up and I cannot use my pre-existing saved games vs. the AI.

However, in trying to find why this problem occurred, I am looking at all possibilites. One is that the auto email generator for the PBEM game did not work on my computer, so I had to manually email my opponent the turn. Could this have caused the incompatibility?

As I recall from playing Korsun Pocket, the autoemailer for that had a problem sending emails if one of the players in the PBEM game had an email address that was too long. My opponent's email address is 14 characters long, at yahoo.com. Could that be an issue?

Also, does the version 1.01 that you buy from digital download now not contain all the files that are in the patched 1.01 version? I can't remember if I patched on top of the 1.01 digital download before, but I think I did not, trusting that if the download said verstion 1.01, then it did not need to be patched.

Let me know if there is anything we can do to solve this problem.

BTW, we are playing the 76 turn "On to Paris" scenario.

Hi Esteban,

I think you have received a reply about this on the Run5 forums but i will also answer here - it looks like the On to Paris scenario has been updated by the author - make sure you both download the most current version. This should fix the error.
