First NEW Fantasy Campaign almost ready!

Post by jpinard »

Yep that's right! Instead of playing the game like a normal human, I've decided to stick my head deep in the files. What do I have coming your way?

* New Playable Years.
* New Alliances.
* New starting conditions.
* Blank slate - neutral starting conditions.
* Altered playstyle.
* New victory and surrender rules.
* Lots more! :)

Best of all, I'm creating a kind of sandbox mode for those that need to "learn" the game. They can put full focus on learning all aspects of bulding and moving an armed empire.

Best of all, you won't have to overwite any files (except one file that just adds the campaign names). Been working on it for 2 days solid, and hope to have it up in a day or two.

Well, this is on hold until I find a solution to some AI weirdness. Specifically the fact Allied nations don't want to expand like the Axis, and why some units cannot seem to move into empty neutral territory...

We will take a look at the problem once the first patch has been completed. We can't say yet whether the AI can be easily improved to deal with a different world situation like the one your mod is setting up. Our primary focus now has to be to fix any bugs that are found and improve the AI play in the standard scenarios. We do wish you luck with your modding efforts.

As I eagerly await my copy of GGWaW from Amazon.com I am curious from reading this particular thread as to how the AI treats WA and Russian "tensions and rivalry".

This is probably more due to my interest in the possibilities of seeing a full blown East-West confrontation right on the heels of the fallen Reich but, more specifically, during WWII there was a great deal of "land grabbing" and general rivalry between the Soviets and WA.

Does anyone know how this is portrayed in the game? Do the Soviets and WA make ill prepared moves to capture territories prematurely simply to deny each other the "spoils of war"?

Sine the WA can't enter territory that once belonged to the SU, and vice versa, there can be some tension as to "who can go where, but they can't fight each other directly.

IT may be possible to make a scenario that effectively makes the WA "axis" - but I think it woudl have to be PBEM as I don;t know how the AI would react...

Is this "Hard Coded" into the game, or is this set per some txt. file? As i have now tried many diff scenario configurations, its all starting to seem that you can't do anything outside of the "WA,Russia and China vs. Germany, and Japan" configuration. Which really sucks to be honest. Unless of course you have a friend to play multiplayer with. As of now though, i really can't tolerate the PBEM, because turns take to long sending files back and forth.( Which btw, im ALL FOR the TCP/IP multiplayer option, thats being dicussed in another thread. )Im just absolutely baffeld as why this affects the AI, seeings as its scripted(supposedly) per some txt. file. A more thourough(sp) explanation would greatly appreciated........

Thnx.........
