Netherlands Fleet

Post by Gopher »

Playing as the Germans on my first move when I attack the Netherlands there is a fleet in the Netherlands port. Yet as soon as I place my units in the Netherlands to attack the fleet disapears. I believe it is appearing on a station in the English channel. And this is happening before I ever select what kind of an attack to perform.

I looked in the manual for an explanation on this but found none. Can someone tell me why the fleet gets to run away?
Thanks

If a fleet is in port when you attack a region and the fleet decides that you are likely to win and take the port, it will evacuate to the nearest sea zone if it can. The only way to prevent that is to block the sea zone with your own navy. In general, there's no reason a fleet should be caught in port if it has an escape route given the time scale.

Well thought ! Still we can't simulate Mers-El-Kebir (French spelling)... [:(]
What happens to the french fleet when France is conquered ? As there's no french fleet per se in the game the question seems moot, but if they are incorporated to Allied fleet at start they should "disappear" (at least 80% of them) during this event. [X(]
