Copy protection of CD version

Post by RealChuckB »

Hi,

I own the CD version of HTTR (and even the Strategy Guide) but never got into the game, because I only have a laptop that does not have a CD drive installed and the need to have the CD in the drive all the time therefore creates a problem.

I would be very much interested to be able to play this game (that I know I'll love!) on my machine.
Is there any way (and I would be even willing to pay something) to get the exe from the digital download version (which cannot have this requirement)?

I would really appreciate an answer!

Do you have the latest patch? I haven't had to insert the CD for a while now. I also have a shortcut directly to the EXE instead of using the startup menu where you have to click on the "Play Button".

Great - looks like you're right!!!

I'm sure it didn't work when I tried it some while ago ...

Thanks a lot!

If you don't have a CD drive, how is it possible to install the game originally?

All Laptops that don't have built-in CD drives have the ability to attach external CD drives, mostly using some proprietary interfaces. Otherwise, it would be very difficult to install any kind of software ...

P.S. Do I sense suspicion here? [;)]
