Finally found RFTS again.

This 2005 re-release of the updated 2000 sci-fi classic puts the player in the role of building a space-faring civilization.

Finally found RFTS again.

I bought RFTS when it was released in 2000. Then lost the game while moving.

I then ordered GalCiv, then looked for RFTS.

I'm glad it's been re-released. I enjoyed it very much.

Took me awhile to find Matrixgames. The search was worth it.

Since this is your first post, welcome. What do you like about the game?

it's realitive ease of play mostly. I've played a few 4X games. My first was Birth of the Federation.

RFTS is really uncluttered, though the "wings" in the game are obstructive at times,no overwelming amount of charts and spreadsheets. Good AI also.

Also, RFTS actually looks good. Nice graphics.

The last 4X i was playing, before giving up in frustration and confusion, was MOO3. What happened to make MOO3 so bad is my only question, lol.

Thanks for the welcome, and thanks again to MatricG for the re-release of RFTS.

Oh, perhaps the biggest reason I enjoy it is...

Turn-based!!

I like RTS, but I really enjoy turn-based strategy.

Try Space Empires IV Gold - the king of 4x games. I think a new edition will be out from Stategy First for $19 soon with SEV out early next year. This is a title Matrix would have done well to get.

The Play-by-web aspect of SEIV is particularly good for multiplayer, each player does his turn and sends it to a central website for processing and get his new turn from it after it's processed. I'm pretty sure there's also a demo of SEIV gold available at the Malfador website.
