Accidental victory

Post by Aensland »

Hello folks.

Often I win because the final enemy cowardly ejects from his Titan, depriving me of a kill :( I can't reload a save and do it again because it only counts the first time. Is there any fix for this? Like having the game displaying a victory message first before suddenly dumping me at the victory screen?

If human players do it, why shouldn't the AI? [;)]
It's intended to be that way.

Yeah. I've since modified my strategy for final enemies. Put some distance between us, then blow up the body part containing the engine. Cooks jocks nicely :)

Btw I notice that Titans which explode in secondary explosions (i.e. they explode because they got caught in an explosion) are also not counted as kills. Is this also deliberate? Doesn't sound reasonable... I mean, they're killed, right?

This also happened in the Arena (second campaign, first map). Got to love that hill and water configuration, beautiful vantage point for raining missiles down and the enemies crowd onto a few hexes in order to cross the water. I managed to get 3 enemy Titans in the same hex. The resulting explosion was really spectacular :)

If I waited a bit more, I would've gotten 5 Titans - the other 2 you see in the southwest hex join the 3 a few seconds later. Btw that Magnum+ is a modified Revolver (light Titan). I put a + at the end of the name to remember my own custom Titan designs, sometimes the AI uses them in random maps as well :)

They're killed, but not by any one jock in particular, so they do not count as kills. Makes sense.

You can set titans to "private" in the factory, so that the AI won't use them, if you wish. Any design marked as "public" can be used freely by the AI as well as any player.

Ah, now I get it :)

Nah, I don't mind the AI using my designs, I feel kinda proud that it chose to use them :P

It doesn't exactly choose the designs, it's a random determination [;)]

Aww... and here I thought they picked mine because they liked the weapons loadout [:)]

Seriously, purely random? I've seen a few even in Campaign maps, they do seem to adhere to the short/medium/long range thing. For example, they don't use close combat Titans to guard flat terrain where they can see me coming from a long distance. All these little touches add up, I'm enjoying the game so much.

Mission and campaign maps are different, the map designer can either set the slots to random or choose a specific design/weight class/range profile.
