No i didnt, i dont feel like they'll take a small guy like me serious. furthermore they require a whole registration and weeks of waiting before you can answer a question and there form is to hard to fill in. I'll see if i can get some better line to them through matrix games.
I know exactly what is going on though.
I found some Adobe products have the same issue:

What it is, is that GDI+ on XP is no longer supported with the newest drivers for the newest cards of nvidia.
I am quite sure it will work again on Vista since vista pipes the GDI+ commands through DirectX.
But still its evil to quit support like this.

I'm running an XP machine with an NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT (MSI NX8600GT) PCI Express/512MB ram and I'm not having any redraw problems. Driver version is 6.14.11.6921.

I dunno if this would work for you but it has made AT work abit faster on my pc try the next time you run AT to open taskmanager right click the process that is AT go down to priority and select high and left click close task manager go back to AT that might make things redraw faster on screen i dunno its just an idea.

concerning the 8800 nvidia card => switch off hardware acceleration. thats the optimal solution. software rendering is waaaay faster.

Ok guys, there could be some good news about this issue since some of the people on the Adobe forum has used some new beta drivers.
Here are the post:

Problem is fixed in the newest NVidia BETA drivers 177.66. They are not available on the nvidia site (latest I could find is 177.41) so google it. Ignore the fact that they are "for the GTX200 series", the .inf contains way more device profiles than just the GTX 260 and 280. I guess NVidia just wants you to run out and buy a new video card even though the 8800 series is on AE's list of supported cards...
I'm using an 8800 GT on WinXP x32 SP3. Was ready to pay the "convenience fee" associated with buying from my local big name retail electronics store just to get whatever ATi card they're pushing so that I could meet my deadline. Good thing I took a chance on shady software instead! Been editing for about an hour so far and the UI is every bit as slick as it should be. Haven't tried Encore CS3 (supposedly has the same problem) because I don't have it installed, so I don't know if this is a hotfixed workaround for AE, or if NVidia actually fixed DirectDraw.
I'm not home at the moment so I can't test this before tomorrow after work [:(]

Yeeeeessssss it works. I have just installed the 177.66 beta driver and screen redrawing is back to normal!
Vic, I guess it helps to have the same problems as Adobe CS3 [;)][:D]
I'm off to play AT again!

Amazing. But i am happy these cards will apparently keep supporting GDI+

The new driver fixed the redraw issue for me too!
Feels like I got a new game today.
