19400709 : We are moving ahead in Yugoslavia, and we are concerned with the Soviet buildup along our borders, but the presence of our combined fleets off Lisbon shows the depth of our concern with Western Europe. We intend to maintain a naval presence in the West, and we will do what it takes in production and repairs to contend there. We are well aware the Royal Navy is a force to be reckoned with, but we have more industrial resources to allocate, and they will find it more difficult to maintain their fleet in good order as attrition occurs. We can slip forces through the straits of Gibraltar as we need to do so, and the enemy must stick with the configuration that obtained when Gibraltar was
given up.

The Italians have seen the powerful fast British desert forces before them again, but we are there in consdierable force too, and will draw back on Tobruk if necessary and make them fight at the end of their supply lines. If necessary we can gain superiority in the Med and bring some German mechanized forces over to contend with the British.

If we can mount an amphibious invasion of the British Isles we will do so.

19400716 : No naval battle, which is disappointing to us, as we wanted to find a small portion of the Royal Navy in the South Atlantic. The Italians did declare war on Portugal and this may bring the British down there. We continued our advance into Yugoslavia, finding a concentration around Belgrade, upgraded some Panzer units.

19401016 : If it were not for the Soviet Union we would be quite satisfied with our progress, but the Red Army must be building at top speed, and we must address this. The Americans are also likely to enter the war within a year. Our conquests will mean we have a lot of ground to defend when these major powers arrive on the scene.

19401101 : Slow going. We are not hurting the Allies much, and we are not engaged with the Soviets at all. Should we be thinking of a preemptive attack on the Soviets? If so, when should our campaign start? Spring 1941 seems the most profitable time to begin wading into that sea of Red Army units.

19410501 : Are the Soviets celebrating this May Day? Their attack on the Axis has not gained them much, but perhaps they feel it was better to strike early rather than wait for us to strike them.

19410509 : So close, but there will not be a divisional garrison in Cairo next turn. We make progress on the Eastern Front too.
