Presumably you could start a game H2H, fix up the pilots on the IJ CVs, then save and restart as Allied vs the AI?

Is this only since 1.5? I am still using 1.4.

I believe it is new to 1.5 - 1.4 did not have the "get pilots" feature.

The bug is new to 1.5, you would not have seen it in earlier versions as pilots were automatically pulled if they were short. 1.5 added no pilots if replacements set to no.

Does this apply to Japanese only or both sides equally?

Applies to allied carriers also. I had the problem around Tarawa. After the turn in which my bombers refused to attack I used get pilot on all groups that were short and the next turn everything was fine.

My question now is is this specific to carriers or do land based bombers need pilots equal to ready aircraft?? Anyone check this?

I suppose any AI games are shot then aren't they, since the AI won't be using 'get pilot' then, right?

I really need an answer to this, this would be terrible. My PBEM partner is on vacancies and my AI game possibly borked?[X(]

I believe Mike Wood said that the AI ignores the "no replacement" option. Therefore, it will always draw planes and pilots. The AI is not very picky about pilot quality, and it certainly doesn't use the patented Mogami Method (TM) for training. [:D]

And that would pretty much ruin the secrecy of what the other side is doing.

No it wouldn't. Start a turn as H2H and issue orders for Japan, then issue orders for Allies and save the game. Load up the game as Japan computer and execute the turn. The AI will issue complete new orders for Japan AI. The only way for an allied player to issue full orders for the Japan ai is to run the full turn as H2H. (warning, this will cause the un-garrisoned bases in China to take damage)

Err, I just loaded H2H for the current game I'm playing, to see if ANY of the ships I sank, did so, and I checked the Allied CV's (2). There were 3-4 groups that were short on pilots, some by as much as 3-5 pilots. I don't think I've ever lost that many pilots in one turn off Op losses, and I don't think the Allies have either. So if they are constantly getting pilots each turn, it sure don't look like it. They haven't been using these 2 CV's for any fighting yet.

As you can see from my post immediately after this one of yours, I did just do that for myself, but then again it was for checking a game that may be a wash anyway, but loading every blasted turn or whatever that would require to keep IJN in competent shape would be prohibitive. I did manage to load H2H without damaging the secrecy very much, therefore I have a little more skill at that than before, only if you're talking boosting the IJN, or, evidently what my post after yours bears out, the USN, the barrage of temptations to do more than just do 'get pilots' on CV's would be enormous, to say nothing more of the ridiculousness of H2H'ing to keep the other side up all the time.

Two spots:

When looking at the TF itself, you will see a MS:###(%)

That is the amount remaining (% remaining)

If you look at the CV itself:

You will see it on the right (Max Sorties Full / Remaining)
Upon checking the KB out the TF# is 1762/52
the Kaga herself has 450/207
the Akagi has 675/390
what does this actually mean it appears to be a little screwy[&:]

Not enough info ... what are you actually asking? and where are the other ships in that TF?

Ian77, this is the Frag thread I was talking about, in response to your question about resetting Max Sorties.
