Wow some neat ideas for sequels/additions. I too have played Normandy based games to death. But I think in all that time I have only played perhaps one or two that were worthy... I think the Decisive BAttles system covering this topic would be excellent. As for others, Africe and Italy would be good for me, though I just know I will play any **** setting the game is that good.

I agree, normandy has been done to death but wich systems really did it justice?I think CM did an OK job but the campaign aspect stunk, single battles and the making of youre own, thats great.

I could like a Normandy campaign with a good system,I have yet to play KP,but I am eagerly awaiting it,I holding out for my B-day this month so ...yeeehaa.

I vote on Poland/france or anything else from 39 to 40.

It would be cool to play a game were the Germans should win.

What ever is the time and place of this future product I hope it has one thing diffrent/better from Korsun Pocket:

Bigger map.

Even if the main battles took only so much area it would be nice to have surrounding terrains included as well. Why? Because of multiple 'What if?' happenings in the game. It would give great additional depth for commander to take the action to diffrent direction than historically happened. This would also greatly aid any mod makers and additional scenarios which could use the available space to the extent they see fit. This is my wish and I hope you see why it would be good for the game.

Excellent idea! Gives you a bit of room when designing your own battles.

Barbarossa at regimental level? Shudder...............I only have a few decades left to live. Most of the large operations suggested should work well. Their commercial prospects would vary widely.

Perhaps a large map of the Kharkov area could be used for '41, '42 and '43 operations and show the Wehrmacht on a roll, the clumsy Russian Izyum offensive, Operation Star, the Backhand Blow, etc..........OK, a really large map...........

Maybe we should bring up a voting for the most popular future battles...

Thats a good idea (IMHO) to have maps that are slightly (or not so slightly) larger than the historical battle field limits. That would give PBEM players the scope to alter their strategies from history. It would also give scenario designers more room to work.

If Kursk was designed I would hope they would include the Orel area in their maps to the Orel Breakout could either be added or give the Ruskies opportunities to encircle the axis northern forces ... sorry I went of on a tangent.

future games ... I would like to see some of the battles fought by Manstein and Raus as they attempted to free up Paulus' Army in Stalingrad.

Game Editor

I haven't delved too deeply into it yet but I believe KP comes with a game editor.

Therefore it should be possible (correct me if I'm wrong!) to create new scenarios from scratch from other theatres of war without waiting for a new release.

I know that Rob Gjessing's and Chris Merchant's website www.wargamer.com/wachtamrhein/ has tutorials on how to use the editor.

One battle I've yet to see done is the 'Ruhr Pocket' from 1945. Obviously the problem is balancing the gameplay to allow the Germans some kind of victory in a historical scenario but there are plenty of 'what-ifs' that could be played around with. Apart from that, I like the idea of a 'Breakout from Normandy' game. Not so sure about Stalingrad and the KP engine but then I've barely scratched the surface with the game so I'll reserve judgement :D

Bang for your buck. ??

Karkhov had four individual and distinct battles... you could make one large map and use it for many scenarios. I'm reading Das Reich right now and they had quite a time in and around Kharhov in 1943 after the Kursk battle (not to mention Haussers withdrawal against Hitler's orders ... ).

If you used a map that included the Kursk / Orel area, many scenarios could be made with that map. (Kursk then the Orel breakout)

Also, the areas west and north west of Stalingrad had many interesting battles with Raus leading the way in several very interesting engagements. (Verkhniy-Kumskiy, along the Aksay River, and around Pokhlebin)

Eastern front stuff.
