Turn 4:

The Stugs are able to block the retreating British and the ensuing paratrooper assault on Sixmile Cottage results in the remnants of the three rifle platoons surrendering to the Germans.

With their first objective secured, the Germans emend their plan.

Turn 5:

The three para-companys of I Battalion continue their drive north unimpeded, although several under-strength British rifle platoons are spotted in the distance.

Back at I Battalion HQ, Major Gause has some cause for concern.
His right flank is terribly exposed, and while he doesn't doubt the capabilities of his men, the advance up Stone Road seems a bit too easy. Not to mention the fact that there has been no reports of enemy artillery and his troops have yet to sight a single enemy tank. He knows for a fact the British aren't just going to play defense and let the Germans overtake them village by village on their drive to London.

In other words, his instincts warn him of a British counter-attack.

Fortunately, elements of Major Schmetzer's II Battalion have just been placed under Major Gause's direct command.

He orders 5th Company to head for the village of Ottinge and to occupy abandoned British defenses, while 6th Company will head north and occupy other abandoned British defenses just to the east of Sixmile Cottage in Park Wood.

Turn 6:

3rd Company finally sees some action as it approaches Deah Farm and engages the garrison. The enemy fares far worse in the ensuing firefight, losing several SPs and becoming disrupted versus no losses for the attackers.

2nd Company finds itself in a similar situation as it also engages an enemy delaying force at the Misling Farm. The British also fare badly here, and both units should be expelled from their positions the following turn.

1st Company continues without incident heading due north, and enters cultivated fields to the south of Stelling Minnis.
The 81mm Mortar Section, which is trailing behind, was strafed by a wing of British fighters, but luckily escapes injury.

The brave Stugs proceed further ahead on Stony Road, and engage the garrison at the next objective: the village of North Leigh.

Turn 7:

As expected, both blocking forces facing 3rd and 2nd Companys are assaulted and driven out of their positions, taking further losses.

1st Company engages the enemy for the first time, when a wayward group of British trucks unloads several 40mm AA guns in III Platoons direct line of fire. After both guns are destroyed by op-fire, the surprised British drivers quickly vacate the area.
Another British Fighter wing attacks a para-platoon of 1st Company, which escapes the strafing with no loss.
Enemy artillery shells also fall for the first time in 1st Company's area, though no losses are taken.

5th Company has reached the village of Ottinge, and will keep a look-out for British forces attempting to interdict from the east.

Turn 8:

The blocking forces from the farms now totally destroyed, 3rd and 2nd Companys can proceed to their main objectives.

2nd Company moves forward to engage the garrison at North Leigh, which is protected from direct southern assault by a dense minefield.
They will instead attack from the east via the Stone Road.

3rd Company will briefly assist their comrades. They advance on the west side of the village as they drive onwards towards Waltham.

One of the pairs of Stugs proceeds further north along Stone Road and destroys a pair of enemy trucks embarked with 40mm AA Guns.
They then approach Doghouse Farm, but are forced to retreat after three partial-strength Rifle Platoons fire on them.

Turn 9:

As an HMG platoon and a StugIIIB provides suppressive fire, II and III Platoons from 3rd Company rapidly advance on the garrison at North Leigh and forcibly eject the defenders.

Units from 2nd Company then fire upon the retreating and routed British unit and cause heavy casualties.

1st Company reaches the tiny village of Stelling Minnis without incident.

Thanks fmonster. (what's the "f" stand for?[:'(])

I've become totally re-addicted myself and am having an absolute ball.

These games age like a fine wine....they only get better.

The 'f' is for Foley, my last name. fmonster is short for 'Foley Monster', a nickname I inherited in the military that has stuck for over 20+ years. (Some things you just can't shake!)

As for the series, I just bought the AACW game and am digging into that, but after I have worked on that game for a while, I will probably get back into this series.

On a side note, I own Eagles Strike, John Tiller's Squad Battles game from HPS. While it is very good, it just never seemed to me to have the same atmosphere as these Campaign Series games do. (Might just be me though).

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled Campaign!!!!

Turn 10:

3rd Company blasts and kills the remaining British troops that were expelled from North Leigh, and continues on its course towards Waltham.

2nd Company advances closer towards the Doghouse Farm, while a Stug unit in the area helps clear the way by firing on a half-strength HMG unit that is defending in the Singate Wood. The unit suffers a SP loss and retreats deeper into the woods.

1st Company is suddenly surprised by enemy armor units that come roaring into its zone of operation. 3 Mark VI Light Tanks are identified and are escorting 8 Carriers which are laden with British troops.
The second Stug unit rushes over to assist the paratroopers, but their fire misses its target. II and III Platoon close on the enemy units, but their firing only succeeds in causing one of the Mark VIs to retreat.

Captain Geis radios for an immediate airstrike.

Meanwhile, far from the action, 5th Company is ordered to relocate northeast and occupy the village of Elham.

Turn 11:

The Motorycycle Troops attached to 3rd Company are the first to arrive within sight of the village of Waltham.
Several Home Guard Platoons are observed defending the area.

2nd Company closes in and begins engaging the defenders of Doghouse Farm from range. One of the British Rifle Platoons defending the area is hit with a SP loss and becomes disrupted.

1st Company, assisted by one of the Stugs and a wing of Stukas, makes short work of the enemy's armored vehicles.
When the smoke clears, the lone British survivor is a single Mark VI tank.

Turn 12:

3rd Company approaches the strategic village of Waltham, engaging the defenders from range. Several enemy Home Guard SPs are destroyed.
The Battalion suffered its first casualties of this battle when a hidden British rifle unit emerged from cover in some trees and killed 1SP from IV Platoon.

2nd Company continues to battle the well-entrenched enemy at Doghouse Farm.
However, the Germans enjoy a decided advantage in firepower, and should evict the defenders soon.

With the armored threat in 1st Company's area nullified, the advance can continue.
One of the Stugs leads the way.

Turn 13:

3rd Company tightens the noose around Waltham, and should conclude operations in the area and secure the village soon.

2nd Company ejects the defenders of Doghouse Farm, and will use their Stug to attempt to block their retreat. A half-strength Engineer platoon charges the Stug and attempts to destroy it, but is beaten back with loss.

1st Company passes through the village of Stelling and continues their advance along the road towards Bossingham. A British 3SP HMG platoon quickly takes up residence in Bossingham in a futile attempt to delay the attackers.

Turn 14:

With the rest of the Company laying down suppressive fire, the Engineer Platoon attached to 3rd Company storms the village of Waltham and forces the 4SP Home Gaurd Platoon out.
Two partial-strength British HMG Platoons are spotted north of the village in an apparent attempt to reinforce their comrades, but arrive too late.

2nd Company with the aid of a Stug unit rids the immediate area around Doghouse Farm free of the enemy, and will continue north along Stone Road.

1st Company's concentrated fire on a HMG platoon in Bossingham results in the British unit badly mauled and its morale broken.
1st Company can now proceed north along the dirt road towards the strategic village of Upper Hadres.
However, a large Rectory covers the route, and is assumed to be strongly defended.
The other Stug unit will move ahead and recon the area.

Turn 15:

3rd Company makes little forward progress, and is instead forced to engage British forces around Waltham.
One of the Home Guard units succumbs to the pressure and surrenders to the Germans, who then direct their firepower on the two enemy HMG units. Both British units suffer loss and disruption.

A Stug unit plus II Platoon, 2nd Company advance further north along Stone Road, but are straddled by Carrier Rifle Sections which are heavily entrenched in the woods.

Meanwhile, further to the southeast, 5th and 6th Companys join-up and form a line from the eastern edge of the Clavertye Wood to the Bourne River.
These units will march north and disrupt any British plans of cutting I Battalions right flank.

Turn 16:

3rd Company destroys or drives off all British units around Waltham and is now free to advance on Petham.
The understrength IV Platoon will garrison Waltham and ward off any marauding British troops.

2nd Company engages the Carrier Rifle Sections that defend both sides of Stone Road.
The British come off worse, and the Germans close in to assault.

1st Company closes the distance to the Rectory, which overlooks the strategic village of Upper Hardres.
A Stug probes the defenses, but retreats when fired upon by a Rifle Platoon.

Turn 17:

3rd Company advances on a northeasterly course toward to city of Petham without incident. However, a full-strength, heavily entrenched British HMG platoon is spotted in the far distance.

2nd Company continues to engage the Carrier Rifle Sections that flank Stone Road. The Germans press their attack on the eastern defensive position and succeed in forcing the British unit to surrender.

Captain Geis of 1st Company opts to bypass the Rectory, which the British have turned into a fortress.

Turn 18:

3rd Company is approached by a full-strength British HMG platoon on the dirt road leading toward Petham. The Germans are able to fire first, and force the unit to flee.

While 2nd Company troops continue their slow advance up the Stone Road. The StugIIIs forge ahead and reveal another Carrier Rifle Section guarding a strategically located group of buildings that overlook Petham.

As 1st Company gives the Rectory a wide berth, StugIIIs perform recon by force on the strategic village of Upper Hardres.
Unfortunately, they blunder into a defensive minefield, and lose one of their number.
