with the first "real" carrier coming in not before mid 43 I would expand this to at least 18 months if he can finish off the two heavily damaged carriers. Well done indeed, while I find it more than interesting how over 150 Allied bombers doing an attack run not score more than 4 hits on the enemy. First I thought the explanation is easy as I saw "thunderstorms" but on the other hand, the IJNAF seems to have been immune to thunderstorms in their attack. Could it be called strange that 150 Allied carrier based bombers only score 4 hits? Guess that´s something far off reality while the IJN attack was absoluetely devastating.

Good job I wish Andy would update his aar too.

Given that this carrier battle was due to me plannin to invade Fiji.. well..

I'm not sure if I'm going to though. My main aim was not real estate but destroying allied LCU's and ships. The latter part has been achieved already. We'll see.

It's even worse than that. I've expanded my naval production a bit, halted pretty much all of my subs and accelerated all of my carriers except Shinano and Ibuki. I'm getting Taiho and two Unryus in april '43 and another Unryu in June '43. that's another 260 planes.

Remember, this is scenario 2.

Now the biggest fault Andy could make until 44 would be to end up near your combined carrier force (if you keep them together) as this then would again whipe out the couple of carriers he will get (not counting the CVEs though). And until then you will be in an excellent position to raid his lines with a "normal" sized KB as there´s nothing that could actually hurt you. Fuel consumption perhaps.

While I think the Allied hit rate is totally off, it was nevertheless a very well pulled off operation!

Well, now I just have to get my troops ashore at Suva.

also, I'm an idiot. Decided to send a raid in at Suva yesterday, and forgot to set my surface TF to retire

CL Kuma and 5 DD's down due to that. Luckily Kuma was old and 4 of the 5 destroyers were Wakatake class. We sank 4 APD's in return

In other news we sank CL Trenton and two british destroyers yesterday and probably CA Chicago and CA Canberra today

Andy however, managed to send a few DD's into my invasion fleet, they caused no damage themselves but caused 4 AP's to collide.. [:@]

If you sunk his CVs, why invade ? Sounds like a silly question but wouldn't you use those troops better garrrisonning all those dots bases around the DEI and PNG and preparing your perimeter ? Now that he doesn't have many CVs, his main axis is likely to be India/Burma, how do you feel there ?

I want to destroy his ground units and/or (if he saves cadres) deplete his squad and equipment pools.

Interesting your cap had almost 2:1 on his escorts that prob really stuffed up his aim , its interesting though that the Zeros dont chew through the allied bombers like they did at Midway.  
 
Your escorts was greater than his cap so your planes were effected less..
 

 

There's been a lot of discussion of the results of the Battle of Fiji. Do you and Andy still have the saved game from before the battle? If so, would you be willing to exchange information on the bombing accuracy figures of your respective squadrons. (I'm talking about the single figure on the left).Enquiring minds want to know.

Andy feels he is the victim of bad luck because so many of his planes "got through" and he got so few hits. But the majority or great majority (depending on how combat reports counts your planes that were damaged more than once) of his planes that 'got through' were shot up on the way in.
