It depends not only on the chance to hit, but also on what you roll. The bigger the difference, the more XP you gain. The formula is in the guide, but I'm not sure it's up to date.
Thanks for the facts.

I was curious about that myself.

Before i get to the point i'd like to say that there are too many topics with the misleading words "titan design" in their respective titles. I completely missed a thread when posting this
I'd like some feedback on this bot. I wanted to try out the meson guns and i needed some weapons to accompany a barrage of GM6s. I think the engine is a little big but i don't feel like redesigning & field testing any more titans this month so please give me some thoughts.
In theory at least this bot should be able to use different combinations of weapons at long or medium range,or even indirectly with GMs. But of course it's main role is long range disasembleing of recon/lights while other titans take on the big boys.

My thoughts (which are opinions, nothing else):
I like the flexibility and range of the weapons loadout. Jock will need to be VERY experienced to utilize to the titan's fullest capabilities. But when he reaches that point, it'll be a nice support titan.
Good armor loadout, except for the legs.
Heat reg seems a little small; or rather, the heat reduction rate seems low for the weapons you've got. That would be my biggest worry.
Lack of jump jets might be an issue, as getting into a nice firing position will take longer walking than jumping. But if you can link scanners with another titan, you could mitigate this.
Can you fit a better scanner? Just curious. It might be better to drop the Neutron Blaster for a better scanner.
Seems fairly balanced to me.

For its intended role, disabling lighter titans from afar, the reg is huge. Mesons are medium range weapons, as are LLs. I think you have too many MRNG weapons for a LRNG titan, and that's why you need such a big reg. At MRNG you can only fire the mesons or the LLs, if you don't want to overheat. Alphastrikes only if in a tight situation. The mesons have low ammo, but then they're sort of backups. The GMs also have low ammo, but for disabling lighter titans, and 4 6-racks combined, I don't think that's a problem.
I'd keep one of the LLs, for igniting woods if needed, ditch the other (so you can reduce the engine). Move it to the head (swap with NB), it won't do you much good in the legs if you're crouched (supports usually are). The mesons have the same problem (and the LLs), they're in the 3 locations that can't fire when crouched. So you have to get up, which reduces your defense and attack, but it's not too bad.
Armor in the legs is a worry, as that's where most of your weapons are installed. If you lose a leg or otherwise go down, you're reduced to 2 GM6s and a NB.
Haven't built the titan, but you still have free tonnage.

Thanks to your input i now do feel like redesigning this titan.
Just a few points before i do:
Jock IS VERY experienced
The choice of weapons being fired depends on circumstances such as range, threat, threat to other titans, enemy shields, airdrops etc. and a huge heat reg might come in handy esp. if the hex catches fire. (Plus i have an unhealthy habbit of firing everything all the time)
I don't like to have a titan stay too far all the time, it may be more usefull in medium range. Hence all the med. ranged weapons.
Running out of ammo has never been a big problem, and there are backup energy weapons good enough to finish of whatever is left on the battlefield.
Scanner sucks, leg armor does too, lack of shield even more.

Well now this is different.
Unfortunately there's just no room that i see for more weapons.
Fortunately the few weapons that are installed have more ammo than before, there's all kinds of electronic equipment like the shield, DCS, ECM, a better scanner, and the armor has been improved too.
The issue of leg mounted weapons is still present, but due to reductions in mid range weaponry i think this bot is going to spend more time crouched, getting up to fight only when airdropped.
No jump ports, but no need for manouvering or DfAing either.

In my opinion, much improved.
But what happened to your heat reg????? Better find some water to stand in!

Heavy mesons in legs are wasted IMHO. Their range is effective when you crouch. If you need weapons in your legs put something close range into them when you have to stand up and face HtH combat.

I totally agree with Larkin about the HMGs. You might also want to think about using millenia in the CBT, for that extra heat reduction, since your heat reg is a bit weak for the weapon load.

Michael, Michael. He's got a heat reg 4, M woon't do squat since only heat regs 9 and A will have slots in the CBT and LOT.

Doh! I knew there was something nagging at the back of my mind when I wrote that comment, but I couldn't remember what it was. Argh.

I actually tried Millenia in the legs and it made a difference but at the expense on leg armor.
It doesn't matter anymore cos' i've got it almost perfectly shaped. Details will be available soon so y'all k'n teel me wherez aye goofd!

In the legs, of course it does! Legs and CT. Those are the 3 slots a reg 4 will occupy. But in the CBT it doesn't, so it won't - that was the point.

I agree. I always try beef up armor in the Legs, LOTorso and R&L Torso. Kidna keep ya going...

Don't like the CT, eh?

It can have some resonable amounts of armor removed as long as the engine is elswhere. If the engine is in CT then you bet it's gonna armored. :p

And your titan would look pretty silly with a gaping hole where the chest should be.
