Why do the Soviets produce huge amounts of equipment that have no units to use it? I ended the game with 14239 IL-2M3 ground attack aircraft and 18743 M-30-4 Heavy Rocket artillery in the pools. Neither had any units to use these numbers.
Historically the Soviets built a ton of IL-2s because they lost a ton, particularly in 1944-45. In the game you generally won't lose as many, so you end up with a substantial surplus while only being able to field a little over 3000.
On the M-30-4, the Red Army first fielded the BM 13-16 132mm light rockets on the truck chassis that you are most familiar with. Later they fielded heavy 300mm rockets, many initially fired from crates on the ground. In the late war they did create some truck based ones. These '42 heavy battalions and brigades are buildable units. My guess is you did not build any.

I built almost everything up to the limits except some AA. There just are not enough units to be built for the amount of material produced. Simple logic says they made this stuff to be used. Yes, there is always waste in a military, but this is ridiculous.

What version was this? Was this before the reduction in German AFV losses in combat in 1.02.24?

I am talking with Mr Clement on the phone.
He says the game started Jan 11 but half the game has taken place post AFV PATCH

Axis conceded turn 0 after Soviet reserves in the south activated. Soviet bombers caused combat delay due to Axis planes not intercepting due to no GS directive. Erman Magon led the counterattacks.
I must say, this was the most glorious victory I've ever had, not even opening a single turn myself.

To better explain - I did my manual air directives, and forgot to put back the Ground Support ones.
Despite 4400+ Soviet planes destroyed on the ground, hundreds and hundreds were still flying to bomb the Germans ... and the LW was not intercepting except maybe 1 combat every 30-40 of them.
And as Soviet GS is mighty, the results were in extra combat delays or an amount of German guns just exploding.
Plus a lot of missed bomber kills.
The problem I felt is that I had absolutely no way to remedy to a human mistake - I wanted my fighters to intercept but I had absolutely no way to tell them to. Because at human level I forgot to add 1 Air Directive...
If I could have just instructed fighters to fly ... or so ... I'd have not wasted an amount of hours of my life there.
That to me it is another notch on the list of things that do not work in the Air War.
Sure I could have placed the directive and I -assume- I'd have got better intercepts. But the fact I could not impart order to my fighters midturn to fly when the enemy was bombing each and every fight it is silly.

Axis surrender at t3. Made a mess of the Minsk pocket on turn 1 so it was opened on turn 2. Thought i had covered all avenues but it was broken on turn 3 again. With the start of turn 3 and only 500k soviet killed and most of my army close to the border, this game is over.

I feel for you there.
That's why I do not play without a house rule that prevents T1 pockets opening.
I do not want to go mental about breaking down to regiments a bazillion of units; nor that a Soviet can rout in an undesired place, recover and then sneak about, etc. Or that a Soviet unit may or may not pass enough tests to have enough MPs. Or that Germans should do a subpar advance for the first week in order to keep things secured because of the IGO-UGO system and other game mechanics in place.
Simply T1 pocket opening spells game over - been there, done that in the past and then decided to simply house rule against it. T2 all Soviets rout out otherwise (not to mention the Merging business, and the removing all the SUs from HQs).
I just hope there will be added Special Rules for the first turn(s) in the line of the Airbridge Supply limitations, that set Soviet units isolated on T1 and T2 perdure their isolation status through Axis T2 and T3 (but not Soviet T3). Prolly that needs some IF isolated cannot merge / disband function or so too.

It feels a bit gamey as a house rule though. You wouldn't want Axis advancing as far as they could knowing that pockets dont need to be protected. I've seen some good Axis make a full proof pocket over and over again so i think this game was user error on my part! Pocket broken once, its going to be an uphill battle. pocket broken twice - its game over!

You should not be able to disband if a unit is isolated, so don't understand that comment.

If a T1 pocket opens - and thus Isolation status goes away - , there will be massive escaping of SUs, and merging of units and in general other mechanics that may as well mandate a game restart.
Fortified zones that are still there from the pocket can just be disbanded as soon as pocket is opened up.

Soviet minor victory
I had no idea how to use Soviets, though it didn't seem to matter much. Soviet turns seem to be turned around very quickly in comparison to the preparation that I require for the Axis.

Road to Leningrad - v 1.02.19B
Axis settings all 105, no motorisation.
Axis Player: Inexperienced - John Doe
Soviet Player: Experienced - Hardradi - Winner
Slow Axis turn 2 allowed me to get into position and strengthen Soviet forces. Axis only crossed the Velikaya River on turn 5. Resigned on turn 8.

Grand Campaign '41, no Early End
TB Open; some house rules - one among them Soviets could not open T1 pockets no matter what.
Axis: Deaniks, Intermediate
Soviets: AlbertN, Intermediate to Veteran
Wrote a partial AAR of it.
Soviets in '42 end reached the 8M men on map (plus more in TBs). Already past the Winter '41 the Soviets netted so many Guards that the Axis simple could not be on the real offensive in the '42.
Even 4th PanzerArmees packed together achieved a 300k large cauldron across the whole Summer.
Coming Winter '42 to '43 Russians started their new winter offensive. The Germans forces reeled.
Soviets with supply 4 level across the map had no logistic problems at all and the only 'truck' problem faced was due to the fact ALL the mobile corps and rifle divisions and corps and the like (Big stuff) was created up!

Soviet Decisive Victory turn 29
Axis victory points 512 I thought the Axis did not check for failure until Oct 42.
Did not expect that. I thought it was over when there was only one heavy mud turn in the north, hung on until the blizzard set in. Leningrad and Odessa fortress cities holding.

StB .39 public beta
Ended at turn 16 when Axis surrendered. The surrender was really caused by a lack of manpower so German divisions couldn't replenish. Stalingrad pocket held so Germany lost those units. Later the lack of manpower led to big encirclements near Kursk and a big push which broke through at Staraya Russa.
Soviet VP 373
Axis losses
2.2 million men
18,5k guns
3,3k AFV
I want to highlight the 491k captured.
Soviet losses
2.3 million men
15k guns
3.5k AFV
