Soviet - tyroenc
Axis - Rosencrantus.

Axis concede at T35, most of the front was holding up well but around Rostov were getting quite a few units pocketed and insufficient reserves to rebuild the line.

Hi Joel, my game with Gam3r ended, but i don't have access to the game on the server since he resigned. Is there a way I can get access to the save so that I can share the results?

'41 GC

Axis- jubjub/Experienced
Soviet- gam3r/Experienced

Date started: June 2021 - May 2022
VP 401/641 (soviet VP/Axis HWM)

Total Axis losses: 1.56/.411/1.2 million men (killed, captured, disabled) net 3.17 million men, 54,889 guns, 15,034 AFVs, 12,778 aircraft
Total Soviet losses: 4.48/2.62/2.85 million men (killed, captured, disabled) net 9.95 million men, 162,076 guns and 61,781 AFVs, 55,635 aircraft

ended turn 116 (september '43) with a Soviet resignation. started the game on an unfavorable patch for Germans and '41 was a slog. you can see '42 and some of '43 in the AAR. https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 2&t=372103

Frustration with the air war was cited as a reason for resignation. The air combat losses are 10:1 over the whole game, and never really got any better even in '43.

Me vs Axis AI at 120.

I abandoned it after learning quite a few things that I just wasn't doing before. Also the axis was *FAST* and *POWERFUL* on 120 morale, so I needed to start over to build something a little more resilient and spend more time making them fight me so my rear had time to set up.

1941 Campaign
Axis: tyronec/extremely experienced
Soviets: Beethoven/experienced
1.02.29

Turn 2/German player resigned on turn 2. The stated reason was that he did not like some of the things I had written in the AAR, and was not willing to accept any changes made to address his concerns, or offers to change any rules or things in the game in any way that he wanted if he was unsatisfied with anything. But I had difficulty in finding out and also understanding the exact reason, so in fairness, he might perhaps phrase his reasons slightly differently. The only thing of particular note that happened within the game itself before it ended was the Lvov pocket was broken, which might have obstructed the path of the Panzers into Romania and towards Odessa that I suspect he had planned, and possibly could have obstructed rail repair slightly unless he routed some units out of the pocket.

Losses Axis/Soviet
Men negligible/around 300,000 or so?
AFV negligible/low thousands
Aircraft negligible/around 4000

Turn 12 German player resigned after continuing to get heavy defeats for AGC/AGS armies

i think most mobile forces in AGC/AGS were forced to retreat at least once
while many of them were routed throughout the course of this campaign

and turn 11 for the Soviets was pretty epic
center front.png
center front.png (6.55 MiB) Viewed 4031 times
1 German ID forced to retreat in the North

2 IDs pushed back from the light woods North West of Smolensk
1 ID pushed back from the East of Smolensk
2 IDs pushed back from the South East of Smolensk

200k+ Soviets were isolated near Bryansk which was looking pretty bad at the start of the turn
but then hunters (Axis) turned into victims!

1 pz regiment to the North of Orel forced to retreat to a hex with another PZ, this 2 PZ regiments then gets routed
unknown mobile regiment which turned out to be SS unit forced to retreat, so another one was isolated now, and routed
panzer division routed

2 IDs routed near Kursk

Axis forces isolated from the South East and from the South West, and this units just come out of refit (i think so, as they were beaten pretty hard in previous turns)

in the South most if not whole PG 1 was isolated during t10
and on t11 this pocket was closed except of a bugged Romanians in Mariupol that somehow counted as not isolated and stack of panzer + ss + GD

I like Stamb's posts. He is trying to get at some of the imo, core problems with the game. It is kinda not "fun". Having played numerous human vs human WITE 1, my opponent and I enjoyed them. We are having trouble enjoying this game. Axis seemed too constrained and underpowered. Although I haven't tried the latest patches, I just am having trouble even wanting to.

I've played 4 1941 GC campaigns so far with 3 being Soviet wins:

Axis: Ehrinox (win)
Soviets: Veterin
My first game HvH. There was a bit of an experience mismatch here but Axis won by Dec 1941 (surrender on my part)

Axis: Xareon63
Soviets: Veterin (win)
Game went until Feb 1942 but Axis felt they lost too much over the winter (panzers were pretty beaten up before winter too). It was a no early end match but they would have lost on points earlier otherwise

Axis: TheFerret
Soviets: Veterin (win)
Game is technically still going but it's on turn 12 and the player is non responsive and hasn't played their turn for a month. They were behind on points and would have lost at the next early victory check.

Axis: Light4bettor
Soviets: Veterin (win)
Game ended on turn 6. It was their first HvH game so just like my first game, the result probably reflects that more than balance

1941 GC

Axis - fracas
Soviet - Stamb
1.02.29beta

I resigned on turn 12, Stamb played well, and I lacked some pieces of game knowledge to effectively fight him, he made very effective use of cav and airborne forces to isolate my mobile troops, and eventually he surrounded and destroyed 2 pz corps of PG1 + mobile axis allies after I aggressively overextended, I was frustrated by being stonewalled at leningrad and smolensk, regularly having 400 bombers turn up to defend 3000 man cav divs while my own air support didn't fly. Stamb was also using hasty attacks with regiments or cav divs to inflict more damage with ground support than if he used his air to perform ground attack missions.

Overextention can sometimes be remedied but the risk goes up dramatically when you put yourself in a position to get pinned against the sea even in the early game.

i was thinking hard if i should try and encircle him or not
as there was a great chance to be encircled myself
i accepted that risk and it pays off
but if i would not leave a couple of units to the north then it could be a disaster for me which would lead to basically non defended Stalino Rostov

it was not an easy game by any means

Scenario GC No Early End it ended on Dec 7 1944 as a Major Axis Victory
Players myself Soviet gaining experience each game
VS Gary (not on Forum) also gaining experience - both of us experienced board wargamers

Axis/Soviets losses
Men 4544956 / 9837859
AFV 18587 / 77809
Air 29418 / 65733

We both played too cautious, most of the game was a sitzkreig as neither of us felt we had the power to attack effectively. Gary took Leningrad, Crimea but fell short of Moscow. He would have won early on VP's if not NNE scenario. I was playing with that in mind giving land for time.

My frustrations as the Soviet player - in the early war the Soviet tank battalions do not substitute for units in the TOE that are not yet even in production! Old tanks are better than no tanks.

Why do the Soviets produce huge amounts of equipment that have no units to use it? I ended the game with 14239 IL-2M3 ground attack aircraft and 18743 M-30-4 Heavy Rocket artillery in the pools. Neither had any units to use these numbers.

In the game Soviet units stopped filling out their numbers, often topping out at 66-to 85% TOE even though equipment was in the pool. Later units quit accepting reinforcements even when stacked with a HQ on a depot. CV would rise but not troop levels. This was mainly infantry Corp and Div even though the game ended with 10000 Rifle Squads 43 and 10000 RE (+). The only place the units would gain reinforcements was to be stacked in Moscow, so 2 units per turn, period.

I often found that Soviet battalions had greater combat values than regiments or even brigades. This was across the board with armor, art, AA, AT.

Things I would like to have.
Ability to lower the TOE of units in the Soviet reserves to 10% or even 0% so the units that are set higher could fill out fully.
Better substitution patterns for armor and equipment.
I am going to try to use the editor to fix things but get a bit frustrated there too.

Please bring back the air transfer button from WitE1! Drag and drop is a pain for an old guy with shaky hands.

I am open to advice but be kind and go slow for someone who is not that computer savvy.
