That is odd. The forum tells me:

Never seen that message before.

Ok. So my first attempt at this I stopped after the first impulse. I did an iteration on the optional and house rules, which I show below. The biggest changes:
1) No CLIF kit
(2) No requirement for Germany to invade Norway
(3) No requirement for USSR-Finnish Winter War
(4) Loosen limitations on where Finnish units may operate
(5) change the requirements for breaking the Nazi-Soviet pact. Can break if garrison ratios allow but no longer playing with "Breaking Nazi-Soviet pact" optional. And, in addition to being able to break by garrison ratio, Germany may break if both Belgrade & Athens are axis controlled.
(6) Did away with all the Western Allied & Euro-Axis early war DOW and garrison restrictions.
(7) Did away with Japanese IJN land units, US & Chinese HQ restrictions.
So for this iteration I ended up with 12 house rules, 2 of which are RAW in WIF 8.
Though I've just completed setup (again), USSR & Japanese Asian garrison requirements have some very interesting consequences which at this stage seems to make things more historical. Specifically, (a) Weakens Japan vs China such that it appears to make that conflict more of the stalemate that it actually was & (b) highly discourages the USSR from going after Persia & Iraq especially at the start and probably for the entire game. Though I won't know until all this plays out. Well, plays out at my skill level that is.

Remember that historically the Russians (and British) did invade Iran in World War II.
P.S. Why does WiF call it Persia? Persia changed its name to Iran in 1935.

I can't stopped tinkering. Additional iteration made on house rule 15, USSR Claim to Bessarabia. A well done if you can see the tinker.
P.S. graphic replaced. There's actually a tinker and a error that I corrected. The updated graphic includes the error fix.

August of 1941 and after the launch of Barbarossa. I may see if I can pull this off at about the same timeframe but primarily with the CW?

By the way, while I have no plans on doing another full blow AAR I was contemplating on posting my game logs on all this with "occasional" screen caps of the "board". If I do, my objective for doing so is to stimulate conversation and feedback on my attempt at a more historical play albeit solo play & my skill level.
Anyone game for this?

Well, I evidently need to start posting more, so I'll toss out a House Rule I've used in my last two solo campaigns. I allow the SCS transport and invasion of divisions, and I turn unlimited breakdown on, but (house rule) only allow white print units to use it. Early ahistorical invasions by Italy? Gonna cost you that Alpini corps. No more breaking down a lowly 3-2 corps to threaten Malta, Middle East and Greece. Works similarly for early CW, and Japan when creating the perimeter in the Pacific.
One side effect, is that I now actually BUILD some divisions as CW for some early war invasion threat, instead of just picking their worst corps on board for breakdown.
So far it seems to work pretty well, but admittedly two solo campaigns is not much testing.

I thought I'd post the status of my CF-3 house rules. To-date I've iterated to 27 house rules, so of which I'm using, others I'm not and even others that have passed their expiration (i.e., no longer applicable). Note that the below house rules are a combination of counter factual and solo play.
