P51-B What gives

It is 4-44 and I am producing about 100 a month. Yet I see no reinforcment air groups that have these planes and no exsisting air group that can upgrade to them. Am I missing something?

Perhaps we are giving them all to the Russians. Of course, they can have some of the 1,293,459 boomerangs that I now have on hand.....

This is a stock game.

This is a known bug. Get started on producing the -D instead, you'll never get a -B unit.

Oh well, they are no better than the P38-J in game terms anyways.

I am trading them off to the Russians for vodka.   Seems like a fair exchange.

You can trade them for vodka?

What patch is that under?

na, the Soviets got fairly few planes and materials in general anyways, of course "thay got alot" but still pritty few compared to what thay actualy produced themselfs. I think no one dissagrees that the Soviets won the war, and that the Allied helped with denying Germany Fuel Production...

I doubdt thay are willing to trade you planes for Vodka.. Better you give them the planes for free.

Wiki states that 19% of all military aircraft at war's end was of U.S. manufacture.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lend_lease
For example, the USSR was highly dependent on trains, yet the desperate need to produce weapons meant that only about 92 locomotives were produced in the USSR during the entire war. In this context, the supply of 1,981 US locomotives can be better understood. Likewise, the Soviet air force was enhanced by 18,700 aircraft, which amounted to about 14% of Soviet aircraft production (19% for military aircraft).

Although most Red Army tank units were equipped with Soviet-built tanks, their logistical support was provided by hundreds of thousands of US-made trucks. Indeed by 1945 nearly two-thirds of the truck strength of the Red Army was U.S.-built. Trucks such as the Dodge ¾ ton and Studebaker 2.5 ton, were easily the best trucks available in their class on either side on the Eastern Front. US supplies of telephone cable, aluminium, canned rations and fur boots were also critical, the latter providing a crucial advantage in the winter defence of Moscow.

19% sounds fairly significant to me... not "fairly few". [;)]

I'd almost call "Japan's" post a troll comment, but I don't think Japan understands just what was wrong with it... Maybe we should just pardon him his ignorance...

while the Soviet Army seems to have won the war, it was the US industry that really won it...

And those 5000 ships filled with British, Canadian, US, Australian, Free French, Polish, Belgian, Dutch, Scotish, Irish and New Zealander troops that crossed the English channel in the summer of 1944 probably had a role in the victory in Europe as well.

I apologize if I have left out any allied nations that fought in Europe, it was not intentional its just not my main area of study.

I wish that I had such numbers of the P51B in my CHS game... I have several squadrons which upgrade to the Mustang, just not enough planes for them!

There was an article about Lend Lease to the Russians in a recent edition of World War II magazine.  The Soviets played down Lend Lease's impact on their war effort after the war and most Lend Lease equipment was replaced with Soviet made soon after the war (if it was replaced at all).  Now that westerners have access to Soviet archives, the truth is somewhat different.

The Soviets were pretty much self sufficient in some areas like tank production, but the US provided a lot more equipment than they were willing to admit after the war.  I forget the exact numbers, but they are in the article.

You didn't leave any out, you just added a few too many [;)]

By the summer of '44 all of Australia's forces had returned home to fight in the PTO (actually by fall of '42) and the New Zealand troops were fighting in Italy.

Let's not forget the thousands of high velocity gun tubes (and hundreds of thousands troops manning them) shooting at US/Brit bombers instead of Russian tanks. Or the thousands of sorties by fighters flying bomber intercept missions instead of supplying air superiority on the Eastern Front.

When things were really ugly, Britain/USA kept Russia alive sending material they desperately needed themselves at the time.

Yes, but after the germans bombed pearl it was clear how we helped the russians by consuming most of the world's gasoline.[8D]

Exactly, Gem. Just like we did 9-11.
