illumination level and movement speed

I don't think I read this from manual. Just noticed that daytime/ nighttime( illumination level ) has an impact on troops movement speed

When moving through dense forest on a dirt road, an East German BMP-1 Co takes about 2 min during day time to pass one hex under move deliberate order. But at night time when the illumination is at 0, that increase to 8 min on average per hex.

BMP-1 has IR search light , IR weapon sight and IR driving device. Will do some extra test and see how are other equipment perform during night time.

Also, will see if the open terrain has an impact on this.

Great observation and something to keep in mind.

Getting an official answer on this, but I believe units are slower in the dark.

Correct. Well spotted.
Low illumination driving should be up to 75% slower (and so should nap-of-the-earth night time flying) unless the vehicles have dedicated sensors assisting them with low illumination driving (IRDS, TIDV).

Also a unit will be bound to the lowest speed capable subunit in a unit as well.
