Me and Moichris was on the last turns of an No Early End with a large winter offensive from my side...but then the game ended. Why? Is not "No Early End" precisly what it says?

Take a look at Game Event #78 - Western Allies Take Berlin. It becomes active 1945-06-01. I wonder if you got hit by that event (one I plan to remove in my next campaign if there ever is one).

Have another look at the scenario description and you should see the reason.

Yes, the start of 1945 check against the HWM is WAD even in No Early End scenarios. The mechanism of the Axis HWM and the January 45 victory check gives the Axis extra incentive to take more ground early in the war, as it allows them to win if they can then delay the Soviets later in the war. We wanted some form of political pressure on the Axis player to not just stop and dig in inside the USSR without pushing to take more territory when it would have been expected of the German Army. This 1945 victory check is a big part of that. The NEE game just removes the quarterly interim Victory checks that start in 1941.

Is there anyway to remove this and make the victory only via the western forces taking Berlin or the USSSR?

Yes, recent versions added some game options. Under Difficulty, select No Early End for the Campaign End Conditions. This will skip the end of 1944 victory check. In 2 player games, this cannot be changed once the game has started (can be changed in games versus the AI).
