Finished my first game

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Finished my first game

Post by mgarnett »

I have had COG for a few months noew but have only just had the time recently to sit down and have a full game. I felt a bit daunted after having read the manual, but realised when I started playing that most things just seem to 'make sense'. I took the time to read Ralegh's guide, which I must recommend to all new players, and this helped quite a bit.

I think it's one of those games that lets you play well without having to mess too much with every little option.

Anyway, I played as Sweeden and I ended up finishing third behind France (the winner) and then Britain. I was only about 30 glory behind France at the end but I felt quite pleased with my standing. I found playing Sweeden quite challenging as you don't have a large enough army to go storming around the map so diplomacy became quite important.

I just wanted to say thanks for a great game, it's been quite a long time since I have sat down and played a game in one sitting for that long.

Cheers

Thank you for the kind words. Including Sweden as a major nation was sort of a controversial decision, but I'm very glad we decided to, as Sweden is fun to play.
