Supply Question

Post by zoommooz »

Just started playing the new, WAW, and have got a couple of quetion, hopefully someone might know. I have played the original a fair bit but could not rember this happening. I had a carrier fleet that was attacked and as part of the penelty to my evasion was for not being supplied. Now, I did have a transport ship in the adjacent square, with supply available, buy none actually in the area where my fllet was. So my question is, i know when a fleet moves it is able to draw supply from adjacent sea area, but I asume it will not do so automatically for the 1 cost supply for defensive purposes? Another twist, would it change if the same senerio was repeated above, the only difference being that the fleet had just moved there, and as so was supplied in the sense of the "in supply" indicator on the unit portrait says this unit has recieved supply this turn, but by the time it is attacked it would be in the same position as the first case. Does this make any sense?

If there is supply in an adjacent zone then all units in the (single) zone that is attacked should draw a single supply (1 supply shared by all units in 1 zone) and be "in supply" for defense.

Your post wasn't exactly clear as to whether the "supply available" was actually adjacent, or could have trace to be adjacent given the transport, but it actually must be adjacent when attacked. It won't move anywhere to make itself adjacent.

If your unit is in supply from your own movement phase, e.g. you moved the unit, then it stays "in supply" until the start of your next movement phase, i.e. if attacked it should not suffer any out of supply penalty.

Thankyou wandering head, you answered my question precisely. I had the ability to supply to the adjacent region, however at the time of the attck the adjacent region was not supplied, hence then un supplied penalty, ( and loss of a carrier and plane I might add). Cheers
