H2H PLAY PROBLEMS

Hi all, i wonder if any of you guys can help, i have Close Combat - Cross of Iron installed on all my home computers 3 in total and can play my brother H2H with no problems via MM CC111 CLIENT on each computer ( and boy is this a fantastic experience[:D]) but whenever i have tried to play anyone else i get the same problem as many other people are reporting.

Where should i start with the problem solving?
(i'm using a D-LINK wireless network)

It appears you might be able to play online multi-player MMCC3 going through your modem, but not through your router where most of us are having the problems connecting.  Can't seem to find the issue or resolution for some router systems.
