Desert terrain bug?

Post by SgtEagleCAP »

I've been a fan of CS ever since i randomly came across the World at War collection in a software store for $5...what a deal! Great job on the new CS, Matrix. I've run into a bug though - whenever i try to play a DCG in WF thats set in a desert environment (II Corps in Tunisia, Afrikakorps, etc) it seems like the game doesnt "know" that it's in desert terrain. The 2d map has mostly green summer terrain, but with a collection of random desert tiles, and the 3d map has almost all grass but in some tiles it looks like it's missing a hex of terrain or something....anyone else run into this?

Had the same problem. The map generator does not seem to be getting the correct terrain. Talonsoft version was ok on this. They improved the terrain feature on this one. Something is not quite right.

Guys

I was fiddling around with the WF LCGs that start out in the Desert terrain (Operation Crusader, Africacorps, II Corps in Tunisia and Big Red One and found if I started the game and then BOTH Reveiwed my Command and checked my Campaign History before Resuming my Mission I got perfect Desert Terrain as required. If you dont do either or only one of the command reveiw and history check you get surreal terrain.

This seems like a workable if temporary work around until the real bug can be fixed.

Try it out and see if it works for you or if it doesnt let me know.

Drat. It only works on the first game.

Well I guess we wait for the fix.

Yes, its been noted.  Looks like the same problem.  Somehow the Desert maps get read in a weird way when you go to play the thing thru the LCG and DCG program.

Its odd, the LCG maps with Desert terrain are already made and you can play the scenarios as normal scenarios if you open their scl files and save them as a scn file.
