Italian Front

Post by matt.buttsworth »

Simple question, but I must have made a mistake. How many points does the Italian front need to be more than the Allies for it not to fall? I just lost it, but I thought 2549 against 2000 was enough?
And how much superiority is needed to keep West front safe?

The base number for the Italian front is 1,000 in '41, then 1,500, 2,000, 3,000, and 2,750 in '45. There are two things besides the base number you have to be aware of. First, the weather adds +500 in clear weather to the number, and the leadership check could add another +500 in '41 or '42, or +750 in '43 on, if the check fails.

2500+ should hold the front in '41 and '42. What year were you in when it shattered?

January 1943 so I can see my mistake. Against 2,000 I needed 2750 to survive so I was 250 under. With the halving of Axis strength in summer 43? for forces in Africa or Sicily (is that correct?) it is not too crucial a loss. Still annoying though. I hardly ever lose Africa so early.

Yes, I forgot about that.

Does the game still count the strength of Panzer divisions in Africa and SS PZ divs in France as double?

I'm not sure about that anymore. According to Arnaud, the code is just counting tank battalions, and no distinction is made between regular Army and SS.

GOt HQ shattered in first 6 months (forgot when) - cheated of course and reloaded the game - no more shattering.
Had actually reinforced with Hun troops.
changed all tanks I could to PzII in order to get the better ones available. Does the type of tank count toward points or can i still replace a reliable tank in 43-44 with such an obslote as PzII and get away wth it ?
Other point : I put all aircraft in training, shouldn't it lower their strength when atched agaisnt enemy ?
good night
Ben

For now, yes, you can get away with this. Arnaud has talked about a point system for tanks though, so this loophole may be fixed in the future sometime.
