Will this plane be in AE?

Post by GaryChildress »

Will this plane be in AE? SOC-3A Seagull aboard CVE Long Island 1941.

It looks like CVE Long Island operated them as late as May 1942, a month after the ship appears on map in CHS.

EDIT: woops something happed to linked pic. Just uploaded to Matrix forums. Sorry.

The SOC has been in WitP from the begining.  Though only the float plane version aboard cruisers.

The carrier capable version was only used in training and secondary duties and never saw combat.  It doesn't really fit within the scope of the game.  The Navy had gobs of SNJs (Navy version of the AT-6) too, but they aren't in the game either.

However, there'll be plenty of space to put it into a mod...

I suppose somebody (T) will say this baby should stay out, just because there were only 2 of them?

It's actually quite a handsome plane. But, for those of us not in the know, what is it? [:)]

Why..it is the culmination of all aviation prowess that ever existed in long range warplane design of the 1930's !..This is the magnificent Douglas B 19, intended as a long range bomber and armed with not only HMG's, but 2(TWO) 37mm cannon on swivel turret mounts!
She waited too long for engines strong enough to take her anywhere efficiently, and the technology of this plane was used in building the B 29, years later.
Here she is blowing up some dust.
(During the war, she was used as a transport, and had both radial and Allison inlines mounted on her at different times..

What good would the 37mm's be? Shooting down other bombers? It seems doubtful they could hit a nimble fighter.

This is what I was trying to react to in the post above but forgot to include the quotes. God I love this forum!! This is my reason for waking up in the morning (at least while I'm unemployed and looking for a job)! [:D]

Gee, how about adding the A-27 & , P-64 & P-66? 10 A-27s were in use in the PI during the opening days of the war. And the CAF also had some P-64s and 66s in use as well. These don't have to be included for stock games, it would actually be nice if they were just listed in the aircraft section (with a big fat 0 in the build column) in order to give those who build there own scenerios the option to include them.

I'm sure most are familiar with the P-64 & 66, but for those not familiar with the A-27 was a light ground attack aircraft that were intended for the Siamese AF (aka Thai AF). The order was seized and the a/c pressed into service by the USAAC.

Again, CHS has lots of this. Can't believe you have not tried it given your long term membership on the forums.

This is an JFB game, don't forget. Only Japan gets to build what if types, and in numbers that outstrip the arsenal of democracy.[:-][8D]

In WiTP mk1, there is a hard code limit on the number of (5?) squadrons/formations allowed to be embarked on a flattop. The OP may run into problems trying to add search planes to a carriers air group, if that carrier already has reached it's limit.

Is that limit going to be in AE?
