PB/PL Mod for the Hardcore Old-Schoolers

Post by jbunnelle »

(Original thread was moved into the Support subforum for some reason; here's the link: tm.asp?m=1524604 )

FIXED FULL VERSIONS FOR PANZERBLITZ & PANZERLEADER!
(fixed several issues with initial PB release; all now functional)

Recreated the interface screens to suit my grognard fancy, complete with original box abrasions and rubbing. [:D] Those who understand really need no explanation.

This replaces almost all of the interface screens but doesn't alter the map and/or units. Can't say I want to go THAT extreme. Also, I've included two icons (see last screenshot), although you have to create the shortcut and change the icon from that furry Russian hat thingy. Enjoy.

NOTE: This has no PB/PL scenarios. I think you can find those elsewhere. Check the mod subforum, I think there's a link. This is strictly cosmetic.

(MANY THANKS TO HERMANN FOR HOSTING THIS!)

Thank you very much!  I get a kick out of the artwork every time I see it.  I remember the first time I ever came Tactical Game 3 when I was visiting my family in Georgia.  A friend of my brother, a high school kid, had the game.  I was a long time AH game but had not been aware of SPI.  We sat down and I remember being excited that there was no zone of control, rather opportunity fire during movement.  As I remember I won the scenario through the dubious tactic of running trucks past him on the last turn.  Of course I bought PanzerBlitz and PanzerLeader when they come out, enough copies to have lots and lots of maps to butt together into big, big super maps.  Those were good days!

Thanks for this wonderful mod. Panzer Blitz and Panzer Leader were some of my most favorite games back in the 70's. The graphics bring back great memories.

Yes I did...said the requested document not found. Even checked out the website www.ersatzheere.com, nothing listed there either. Must be no longer hosting the mods...

Just to say, I've gotten CS and installed these PB/PL mods.  Very nice!  It brings back the old gaming.   Thank you. [:)]

There is a new set of scenarios at wargamer's Games Depot. Look for Ode to Panzer Leader III.
Conflict of Heroes "Most games are like checkers or chess and some have dice and cards involved too. This game plays like checkers but you think like chess and the dice and cards can change everything in real time."
