Display problem?

The game display does not take up the full screen. The actual game area is like a small rectangle shaped playing area in the middle of my screen. I have a 24inch W screen from Dell.

Could be both. I recently upgraded to 512 mb ddr3 pci GFx card but the games i use to play on my 64 mb were laggier on the newer card. Turns out the card was sucking out the power from the CPU. Also if started running good for a while then like you said it became a slideshow. Try to overclock the card.
