The Japanese aircraft losses are rediculous as compared to Allied losses.

Crocky, to what do you attribute these losses? Numbers on each side don't seem too horribly out of whack so do you think it is lack of pilot training? Aircraft quality? Superior Allied fighter direction (radar)? What?

Just curious. I've not reached such a late date in a game of UV yet.

It seems that Crocky did an excellent job of husbanding his airforce (especially earlier in the game) - and great playing kept his airpower viable long after the equivalent AI would be reduced to impotency.

There comes a point though where the endless supply of fighters & bombers the allies can throw at Japan eventually overwhelms even the most elite squadrons. And I find the army fighter groups (the KI-48's & 61's) to be almost useless against Hellcats & Corsairs in a even fight.

I'll be very interested to see if Kid can grab Rabaul in the next ten days. Very interested indeed..........

Not to answer for Crocky, but if your talking about the recent battles most were lost on the ground. See the graphic I posted. If your talking about the entire campagin well thats a diffrent story.

Well the last 6 months have been hell on the Japanese airforce my bases have been overrun forceing me back to Rabual and Kavieg as my major airfields which in turn brings all kids fighters closer and his combined raid are impossible to stop

If you look back thru the last few AARs you will see what I mean 2 major raids per day 1 from Gasmata now it has fallen comprising mainly about 80-100 B25s + 100 fighters
and the other from more distant bases of 150+ 4 enginned bombers plus escorts..the first couple of raids knock out the airfield grounding all planes apart from a few fighters and the follow up raids do huge amounts of damage to your aircraft on the ground.....

When Kid turned his attention to Kavieg 6 days ago the writing was on the wall now if I recall (Im at work so I m doing this from memory) Kavieg has.....
Port damage..........................60
airfield service damage?........82
Runway damage...................100

As the Japanese my numbers of pilots are lacking there are squadron in Truk with 25 aircraft and only 10 pilots there....Training level is between 40 & 45 and their aircraft are outclassed......The light weaponary is the problem they just cant do enough damage to heavy bombers .....

Having said that I have made some serious errors tactically that have cost me which I will clarify later on.......

Oh by the way Rabual in terms of game points is now 2700 (100) for both sides

Airfields at Rabual got hammered again ....totally destroyed now

2 transport TFs attempted to breakthrough to Rabual and got hammered from the air but the bulk of the troops and supplies got through...

Kid tried another assault on Rabual heres the result

round combat at Rabaul

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 36591 troops, 427 guns, 77 vehicles

Defending force 33133 troops, 300 guns, 93 vehicles

Allied assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 4)

Japanese ground losses:
Men lost 192

Allied ground losses:
Men lost 1401
Guns lost 1

Looks like I may be able to hang on to Rabual :)

About 3 weeks ago (game time) I had taken Gasmata just for the victory points. To my surprise it turned out to be a major airfield and an excellent place to launch air attacks. When I saw Crocky landing troops one hex north of Gasmata, I diverted 3/4 of a division to protect it, which they did. But now I am wondering if that was a mistake. Those fresh troops might have swung the balance at Rabaul. We only have a few turns left in the game and that is not enough time to load them up and move them..
