Shipping Costs and GamersGate

Post by Spoot »

I would like to buy DW directly from Matrix (Physical Media/Digital), but the shipping is too dear. $8.95 is a bit steep for the lowest priced shipping method. It is over 20% (1/5) of the item cost.

Shipping is a pet-peeve of mine, and I have forgone many items for the sake of too costly shipping charges.

If I buy Digital I rather buy from GamersGate if I can.
Will DW ever appear on GG?

Also, can anyone tell me how often Matrix offers any sort of coupon for their games? Is there ever one for a reduction in shipping?

Where do they appear (how do I receive one), and how often do they occur?

Hi Spoot, hopefully someone can answer those questions for you.

All I can suggest is, why not buy the digital download and copy the setup file to a flash/usb drive or burn it onto a cd? It's not a big file (under 600MB).

Hi Spoot,

This release, as with most of our releases, is exclusive to Matrix Games and will not appear with resellers like GamersGate or Impulse. Our shipping & handling costs are pass-through, it's what it costs us through the DR warehouses.

I would also recommend purchasing the download if the shipping bothers you. It's perfectly fine to burn it to a CD once you've downloaded it so that you also have a physical backup.

Regards,

- Erik

Erik, Can you tell me how often Matrix offers coupon codes to its user base? Is there an outlet for them and if so what is it (e.g. news letter, etc.)?

Thanks

We periodically have sales - the most predictable one is our annual holiday sale, which usually runs for about six weeks from late November to early January, but we also have "blitzkrieg" three days sales at random points throughout the year. We typically do not discount games or put them on sale until they've been out for about a year. Subscribing to the game newsletter (when you register the game) or to our company newsletter (http://www.matrixgames.com/community/newsletter.asp) or just checking the front page is the best way to stay informed.

Thanks Erik. I am not really looking for a sale on DW but only a code for shipping.

I will keep watching and see if one shows up through the Newsletter online here. Although, I am not even sure if there is such a thing as a Matrix coupon code for shipping.

Thanks again.

I have a question about physical shipment: I ordered the game as download and cd at the 8th of may and didn't receive the cd until now (I live in Germany). Is that delay normal or do I have to worry?

Hey, I'm living in Germany as well.
Ordered and payed April 27th, got the shipping notification a day later. Order arrived sometime last week.
It's a long way from the US, give it another week or two.

Who would have thought with this name? [;)]

Ok, then I will wait a little more. I'm used to e. g. Amazon Marketplace shipping times that seemed much shorter to me when shipped from the U.S.
