Playing DW:U without sound

So my onboard sound somehow died on me, while the rest of the computer works fine. I thought I would have no problem playing DW, but it crashes on startup with the crashdump showing a Directsound error.

It will probably take a couple of weeks before I get the computer fixed, so is there anyway to get DW to ignore the 'nosound' problem and start anyway?

I have EXACTLY the same situation. Very frustrating. No matter have many drivers I update/refresh, including the BIOS, my laptop says "No audio output device is installed" (lying junk heap...) and DWU will not play. Neither will Legends, though it played fine up until my laptop stopped seeing sound devices. Why can't we play with no sound?

Got my sound back (wish I knew how I did it) and the game works fine. But seriously, the game should not crash just because a sound device is absent.

I have an issue with sound too.The music seems to revert back to default volume even with the slider low when you restart.

I have this too - Which is pretty disturbing when it's set to 0% and I am already playing music elsewhere. [:D]
