Isn't it a bit over the top to link to a different company's purchase page on Matrix's forum?

You should have said that that to Pzgnr (elite matrix guard - oooh my gooood !), who has posted the link 1 month ago (see page 1 of this thread). I just took again his link. Please, let me in peace, nothing to do with moaners who do not read threads before to critic peoples who give links to wargamer community for a very old and "out of selling" game. Matrix does not sell, as I know, the product 3rGold and the product 3r PC.

You should take some tablets against the bad/negative thought [8|]

See above the post of Pzgndr : (you have yourself posted a message at 5th rank after his own message, but at this moment you were not "offended" by this "horrible commercial proposition on the matrix forum" [:D] Let I laugh at these stupidities

OK, I give. What is this and where can I get it? I am sorry I never heard of this before.

It was a game editor for Third Reich PC. See 3R GOLD. I used it some and still have it someplace; it helped with some things. Not sure if it is still available?

Seriously, referencing a game editor tool for a discontinued game should not be a big deal? Else, I'm guilty as charged. I don't suspect Matrix is losing any MWiF customers to 3rd Reich at this point. But perhaps if Matrix were to sponsor a John Prados versus Harry Rowland Pay-Per-View Smackdown Rodeo event then maybe that could help entertain us for a while as Steve finishes MWiF... [;)]

No pzgndr I'm guilty as charged, I am the one who started this post, the reason for the post was that if any one was getting the war game itch while waiting for this game to be finished [:(] they could play a game similiar to WIF, not close but similar to the war in Europe kinda thing. It was not meant to hurt Matrix in any way shape or form, if anybody feels different than that's on them, you did nothing wrong pzgndr, IMO.

No, No, No ! Mister Pzgndr, you do not have to flee your responsabilities in this very important commercial matter (illegal concurrencial publicity) : Mister Paulderynk (old justicer) is right : you are guilty for everything !!! (and according this fact, I am going to denounce you to High Authorities, if Mister Paul derynck has not made that before me, you will be arrested , procecuted and convicted. It's sure, because I shall be witness for the prosecution) [:'(]

Bo, your gesture is noble but you will not be able to save Pzgendr's head : Mister Paulderynck is known to be one of the the most austere judges and inflexible. I think the case of this very hard outlaw Pzgendr is lost, no hope for him...[8|]

Well then Mr. Welk I will take on personally the pzgndr case in the coming trial, that should be an automatic acquittal for him. [;)] FYI I defended the three Frenchmen in Paths of Glory, and Breaker Morant in the Boer war in South Africa. Hmmm on second thought maybe he should get Jose defending him. All is not lost pzgndr trust me [&:]

Of course Jose is a Spaniard and being Spanish they understand inquisitons better than most, and they are noted for being very fair, pre trial publicity in Barcelona [:D]

Perhaps a deal would be possible in this matter, to avoid the "dangerous spanish acquittal" : if Mr Pzgendr recognized publicly his guilty and agreed to pay a fine 5000 $, I could take care to get back this money and to send it to Matrix authorities...

Mister Pzgendr : please, use Western Union for total security to send the cash [:D]

There's a semi-active Vassal community that play's AH's Third Reich, mostly by email but vassal works live. Of course with Vassal there's no rules control like MWiF.

As an avid 3R player, I found the PC version pretty easy to beat, so much so that I don't even bother with the whole DOSBox thing. Patch 1.38 still had some fatal flaws: every once in a while if you're playing the Allies, the Axis won't capture Paris--they just take every other hex, surround the city and sit patiently for the Russians to attack. Then when the US enters, it takes Paris. Some bizarre or ghost AIO option I guess.
Why choose the lesser evil: Vote Cthulhu.

I just got AH 3rd Reich PC running on my new Windows 8.1 machine today. The only way I could get this old 16 bit application running on my new 64 bit machine was under dosbox. But; I have it running like a charm.

I now have three Grand Strategy WW2 games installed and playing: MWiF, CEaW GS and AH 3rd Reich PC. Well, actually I also have Strategic Command 2 (SC2); but haven't really played it much since I bought 5 - 6 years ago.

So as I mentioned in the last post I now have a 20-year old 16 bit game running on my new 64-bit Windows 8.1 PC using DOSBox. Working in DOSBox does bring back fond(?) memories of the good old days in computing. By the way, working is DOS back then was leaps and bounds ahead of when I first started working with computers. Back then, we used card decks. [:)]

The first Third Reich game I've bought was build for the Commodore 128, I believe... That was a long time ago...

I didn't realize there every was one built for the Commodore. I thought the 1994 PC version was the only computer adaption of AH's 3rd Reich. What year was the Commodore version?

You might want to tell DOSbox to change the screen resolution of DOSbox to give you a bigger window. See the DOSbox wiki for instructions on how to do that. (You have to change a line in you .conf file.)
I thought I knew how to play this game....

I already did. Great minds must think alike. [8D]

DOSBox and the game fill up the entire screen on the biggest of my two monitors, which is widescreen (can't remember the exact specifications).

Did you know that Ctrl-F5 makes and saves a screenshot as a png file? In the same configuration file where you can adjust the screen size, you can also change where the screenshot is saved. You can also just let it save to the default location too.

This map brings up a question about WiF. (MWiF just copies WiF here.) Why is Lodz where it is? If one takes a look at a 1939 map of Poland, Lodz is almost exactly half way between the German border and Warsaw. In WiF, it is one quarter of the way to the border. Note that the people who did the 3R map put Lodz on the border!
