The Russians needed time to get their forces to bear on the running Germans and not much happened this impulse.

The destroyed units during the past turn. As horrendous as it is for the Germans there are a lot of reinforcements coming for the next turn, including a lot of shattered units returning.

In the moment you do not play a static defence, to hold a continuous line with weak spots of 1 unit only is much worse than a line with holes / intervals that stops with ZOC enemy advance, whereas you have stronger stacks attackable only via 2 hexisdes.

Germans pulled back very poorly in '44 from Russian front and got gradually butchered til they lack the means to perform even a static defence on a new natural line.

Yes, you have good point. I tried to hold too long, the Germans should have retreated earlier to better positions with a shorter front.

In France a double unit line was not enough to hold with the US throwing multiple O-chits in a single turn, 5 O-chits in the July/August turn. Once the Germans units were stuck and surrounded the terrain with many used aircraft became overrun targets.

There is no way Germany can hold out much longer. Even with the winter coming, the Wallies will tear them apart.

By the way: any French units being build now? Or haven't you liberated France? If you scrap a lot of the rubbish, they've got some nice air units available.

Paris only fell during the July/August turn so the conquer and liberation phase has not occurred yet.

Germany land, Italy Combined, Japan naval

An Italian BB moves out to sea but is aborted by a CW Nav.

Japan reestablishes supply to truk, a minor battle in Bismarck Sea aborts a US Fighter and 2 Japanese Cruisers.

Germany grounds trikes and disorganizes 1 US and 1 CW armor unit. The Allied Fighters are mostly out or range as yet.

Germany sets up a weak line to hold back the Allies in the West. In Russia the remaining German units now run as fast as they can westwards but a few end up locked in place by the Russian units.
