I would like to be able to see the main map the way it looks with huge 2d counters at 1920x1080, but the text the way it looks at 1366x768.
I would also like an improved map navigation system. Right now I'm always getting lost on really big maps.

Nobody did mention it yet. About a complete graphics overhaul, I have always played with the 2D view but there is still the so-called 3D view.
Would you guess or like a complete rework of the 3D view for maps / units?

Personally, I think this is not needed but would like to know what others think.
Will they remove the 3D view for TOAW IV ?

I took a look at using the 3D view but decided that 2D gave more information and was more playable. Other than that one time I
haven't ever used the 3D view and I'm thinking that most players don't play using 3D mode. If the 3D mode was done away with
in TOAW IV then we could dispense with all the graphics files that go with it and there's quite a few of them.

I'd be happy to dispense with 3d mode as well.

I don't like it, big huge buttons with silly cartoons on them like for a child. It's insulting. Please Matrix don't do that to our beloved crisp, clean and professional looking TOAW.
+1. I hate the WitE map/interface. As stated, the current CRISP and CLEAN TOAW3 map and buttons are vastly superior. Improve on them and leave WitE where it is.

3D view for maps

Using the 3D view would allow Matrix to sell Unit Pack DLCs, just like Paradox for EU4 or CK2... one DLC for each nation... [:D]

I have also looked at the 3D View and decided that is not for me. I would never use it.

I don't think the 3D view will disappear. But, at the same time, I don't think it will get any enhancement, either.

Perhaps there are miniature players out there that may be attracted to TOAW because of it. There support would benefit us all.

And the view can create some neat graphics:

It always reminds me of Panzer General. There's a beer and pretzels game. [:)]

There was a sequel for Panzer General called Pacific General. I owned both of them and played
both of them so much I wore out my mouse.

I am probably one of the few TOAW players who regularly use the 3D view. I don't play the game using it but turn off the units and weather effects and it helps me visualize the terrain better. It is handy for some maps.

Best wishes,
Steve

Those old panzer general games are available free now. There is also a community version called "Open General" that is based on PG2 and is free to download. Has a few upgrades and a lot of new scenarios.

Terrain and weather have quite some effect on combat and efficiency; I did realise that when taking control over the whole Luftwaffe in an ongoing D21 RPG type campaign *see http://www.si-games.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28110 * wondering why some attacks didn't work or the groups went into reorg... well, weather and accidents, rather than the VVS...

I also think that the 3D view is not necessary, It is very confusing, the units are composed of many types of equipment but in the map you only see one type, I never use it. This type of view is for a tactical game in which each unit represent one kind of equipment, not for TOAW.

Other recent games like war in the east/west or Flashpoint Campaigns:Red Storm only have 2D view.

I like the 3D view for entertainment purposes. I OPPOSE removing it as an option. If you do not like the 3 D, don't use it, but don't take away my option to use it.

Open General is for Panzer General 2, what Panzer Corps is for Panzer General 1 - an overhaul and revamping.

I am a newby to TOAW. I see the game with fresh eyes.

The buttons are not crisp and clean. They are a jumble of poor quality artwork

- that little graphic in the top right corner is impossible to read.

- when units are stacked, the info of all units in the stack should be included in that graphic. Currently we can see only one unit at a time.
