Rail question

Post by Twotribes »

Once I have high speed rail and build the stations do I turn off my old rail stations?

Well, if you want to replace them with high speed ones, you sort of have too, since as of now, regular train stations cannot be upgraded to high speed, and even prevent you from building a high speed one in the same hex.

It all depends on how much havoc closing the regular stations will cause on your logistics.

Best is to plan your cities for rail "upgrade crisis" since start. How? Sacrifice 1 side of hex. Place here a road that will never be used, then here you will build 1-2 rail station using traffic signs so ALL their output will go into capital and not back.

Placing rail stations outside of cities & on roads in use will lead to huge logistic mess sooner or later in my experience.

I have regularly built the high speed station 1 hex outside of rail cities, but I have not noticed a logistical mess.

What should I be looking for?

Half of it's output will miss SHQ & bottleneck mode will stop making any sense. But maybe now it's fixed after addition of pull system, dunno.

Ahh, that's a great point. I'll keep that in mind if I'm ever running out of LiS on my capital.

I believe upgrade of regular rail to high speed is in the backlog. Don't quote me, but I recall that being indicated by devs in a previous post.

Search using this board is not the best. ASPPlayground is many versions ahead of 2.4.5 now.

AFAIK it's planned but currently still isn't possible even in latest beta.
