Tom hanks is a liberal turd bag lousy actor too boot.Cannot stand that worthless PUD.Watch the cruel sea instead.Fantastic movie.
I would disagree with much of that. Leave his and your politics out of it - the moderators have been clamping down on mention of it.

Agree on The Cruel Sea though. The book was covered in high school English class. It resonated with me because my dad was a corvette sailor, and the author Nicholas Montserrat was too.

One question: Does the film capture the multinational aspect of the TF well? In the book, Krause modifies his actions to take into the account the sensibilities of the several nationalities involved. It's a small but interesting part of the story, at least to me.
Not to the same depths as the novel.

Otherwise, do as your conscience dictates.

Thanks. I removed the other comment. I'll probably be able to see the movie on Korean cable eventually.

The trailer (Here) looks nice, for a 1953 flick.

Not to be confused with the 1972 Kuwaiti movie...

In that trailer, the scene between 1:15 and 2:10 is where Jack Hawkins (the captain actor) sees that the U-boat is under the bunch of survivors in the water and has to decide whether to break off the attack or proceed and have his depth charges kill the men in the water. He does a great job of showing his dilemma and decision with his expressions.

The scene itself is accurate - there were instances where escorts had to make that decision and survivors were killed by depth charges exploding nearby. By mid war Allied navies had enough experience with this that they could tell their sailors that floating on their back was the best way to mitigate a nearby underwater explosion.

Guys, this is a forum dedicated to a historic war game/simulation, please show respect for each other, and for all of us not interested in your disagreement, without needing to call for a Moderator. The subject of the thread is not Tom Hanks, or your political views, or your place of residence, but a movie, no need to come to name-calling.

First amendment rights are only with the government, not private companies.

On topic, Dan Carlin interviewed Tom Hanks about this over the summer. Good interview. Go give it a listen.
