Brigade Spawning (now called "Deployment") is still a few months off. That's the next big feature that everyone is looking forward to.
Also, they are working on an ordnance server that tracks long-range fire and grenades. That way, they can add bouncing grenades instead of the 'explode on impact' ones that we have now.
The reason they are waiting for an ordnance server for that is so every player sees the grenade in the same location when it's thrown.

Hmmm... good question. The game mechanics, however, require you to work in large groups to be successful, and in anticipation of that, we always fight with the Brigade on our ops.
The Brigade spawning is still a "soon" feature, but I have little doubt they'll have that in shape. They've implemented a "gun wobble" that's proportional to your stamina, i.e sprint 100 yards, drop down on belly, raise rifle= VERY wobbly and they got rid of the uber luger.
Neat stuff. You should check out that movie I posted.

It's too bad people still have that negative image associated with WW2ol. Eventually they will lose it once more players start to try out the game, this combination package deal should make a difference.
You guys have to remeber, this game has been around for 2 years. If it was so bad at release, and practically unplayable, do you think it would stay afloat for 2 years? More importantly, do you think anyone would be playing it? It's quite apparent how far this game has come, and how far it is going. If you still have those negative opinions about the game, try it out and see for yourself. The learning curve is steep, but eventually you will see why it has been around so long.

I play wwiionline Bump for Motorcycles w()()t!!
Now, the infantry fatigue model is the ONE thing in ww2ol that I thought they did better than ANYONE else, by far: better than Flashpoint, GR, R6 ... any of those games. The infantry injury modeling wasn't too bad either, working within the limitations they had to work with in light of the vastness of the game's scale and the necessity of transferring all that data over the net. The injury *animations* were pretty limited, but the damage modeling itself wasn't too bad.
Oh yeah, the release. Were you around for that? I thought you'd come in a little later. The flying tanks and blue heaven bugs? LOL... man that was a trip. They really got those fixed *relatively* quickly though. Well, *soon* anyway.
(I'd forgotten all about *soon*).

You can check out in-game Screenshots and Video @ Stars and Stripes, plus every City/Town/CP is mapped out in the Intel maps section!
I've been with wwiiol pre-day 1, best game out there hands down.
One of the greatest features of wwiiol is, it's ever changing. Patches/Updates brings new systems(Deployment, ordnance server, weather, Enter/Exit vehicle, etc), weapons, vehicles, towns, sounds, better graphics, etc, etc. All this for FREE, none of this crap you see SOE pulling off with Planetside being out less than a year and selling an "expansion pack" with a few extra features...as I'm sure SWG will do the same.

Yes, I was at the Babbages as the UPS guy delivered the box. I didn't join the Third until a couple months later. I just looked around for about 10 minutes & said "Pfft!" I thought I'd wasted my money.
Looking back on that now, I just laugh. It's hands-down the best game I've ever played. And yes, I formed a relationship with the Ju very early on.

If it's improved substantially, it probably will help. I've already ordered HTTR, so if I give it another try, at least I won't have to DL 250+ megs of patches.Merciful wrote:It's too bad people still have that negative image associated with WW2ol. I dunno man. There were a lot of folks playing it a year after release and that was my last memory of it. The social bonds that develop through squad affiliation is a strong tie to the game that kept me around a long time. [Edit] I guess I'm saying a lot of folks were playing it, and had been playing it for a year when I left, and to me anyway, it was bad then. I may just well give it a try in light of the fact that it will already be loaded on the HTTR CD when it arrives. I may be surprised. If I am, I'll be the first to admit it.Merciful wrote: It's quite apparent how far this game has come, and how far it is going. Hey Wheelz,
I remember the first time you and I hooked up. You had joined 3RTR on some night I wasn't there and we found each other on the squad channel thing. We were in some dip$h!t town in a couple Rennies blasting the crap out of 38(t)s, PzIIc and PzIIIs? Remember that. We had a GREAT hull down position focused on a road coming into that town with some vegetation probably about 70-100 yards from us on the side of the road. We must have killed 6-10 of 'em a piece in about a 20 minute period before being killed ourselves.

Any of you interested in rejoining and looking for a new squad - heres my pitch.
I'm trying to form a new squad (mercenary squad for the lack of a better word) that plays all sides. That is, we will occassionally switch sides between maps (not during maps). I personally like to play all sides because a) its fun to play with all the equipment and b) I feel it makes me a better player because I'm proficient with the enemy equipment. However, I want my cake and I want to eat it too - I want a squad
So, let me know if any of you are interested. We need a teamspeak server and a few core players to get it going.

I REMEMBER that!
That was a really good time.
I'm not much of a tanker..... well, I'm pretty good I guess, but every now & then I get lucky. I'm a LOT better at flying now, and I'm pretty proud of that considering how tough it is against the Axis planes.
Getting about that time to log in & play all night.

So can us WWIIOnliners move in now?
WWIIOnline is not for the fast twitch "quakers". Still it is hands down the best MMOG I have ever played. I have been in since pre-Release beta. It is not even the same game anymore. There have been hard times in the past. What do you expect of a project the size and scope of WWIIOnline? No one, I mean no one has come close to pulling off with WWIIOnline has been doing for 2 years. The game is still getting better everyday.

The advantage to moving is that it is more difficult to hit a moving target than a stationary one. In the game all damage is calculated on the attackers computer and transmitted to the game servers to be sent to the targets computer. This means that you shoot where you see the target player and your computer calculates the damage based on what it sees.Agua wrote: The problem with the prediction model was pretty bad for inf play as well. Ya know: where it is actually an advantage to be running around rather than stationary in a defensive position because the moving player is not really (or only coincidentally) where you perceive him to be displayed on the screen. Accordingly, you *think* you've fired about 2-3 shots into him only to be killed while he appears to be standing still in front of you or suddenly warps past you to some other location.
What CRS has done is increase the rate that movement messages are transmitted from one player to another. This has smoothed out movement. Any game that transmits packets through the internet will not be as smooth as a single player game.
Other feedback features added are a visable twitch when someone has been damaged and more visable impact of bullets. These two features make it easier to see where your bullets actually went.
