Poll on the new features ....

Post by wbonx »

Out of curiosity ... was there a poll on the new features / Dlc direction?

I remember something about Politic/Diplomacy (with foreign factions) ... there was also a podcast from Vic talking about this ...

How is it that the game ends up with a full Dlc improving governing your own faction?

I'm very confused .... it was already slow/tedious to deal with internal affairs ... on the other end, Diplomacy with foreign factions is almost absent ... no possibility to make relevant choices or alter the relations between enemy factions...

In the poll you linked, for Politics I understood it meant Politic between factions (international) ... maybe because it was mentioned on this quite long Vic podcast from more then a year ago.

Anyway I guess the dev can do as he likes ... I'm a very big fan of the game, I just believe it would have been more interesting to improve where the game really lacks (Diplomacy/international politic) .. then go deeper into internal affairs, also considering this get boring over time and slow down mid/late game quite a bit.

Yes, I can say almost exactly the same thing - I thought that we were headed towards expanded international politics, diplomacy and intrigue until the mood boards started coming out. Nevertheless, I'm still looking forward to the DLC even though I am less interested in internal machinations, if only in hopes that it (a) provides a foundation for international intrigue for future development, (b) provides alternate, variable, more interesting victory conditions and (c) perhaps it will provide a retarding force to the snow-ball effect that it seems SE has for large nations.

I agree with you this could be the foundation for future updates ... but procrastinating even further on critical features like Diplomacy and "Intrigue" .. given the time is taking for each update, it is quite frustrating (almost as much as the blue print feature ... )

In my opinion also Oceania was secondary to Diplomacy, I think also at the time, 2 years ago, there was a discussion about it...

Anyway, too bad things went this way ...

I feel like the new DLC is like Oceania without a navy — it just adds a few regime profiles.

I don't agree ... It will probably add a new layer to the game. This could be interesting to some ( maybe a few ...), but on the other hand it will probably bother others, like me, that think internal affairs/events are already tedious and slow a lot late games.

The criticism here is about the fact that a lot of the community thought Politics, in the poll, was about politics with other factions ... (diplomacy).

Since diplomacy and trading are the most lacking aspects of the game, it is odd to invest time in a Dlc like this, that is probably going to make the game worst ..

What I mean is that this is a 4X game, and external expansion is more essential. The fact that regime profiles can significantly impact available resources (BP or even IC) is already highly gamified. This DLC seems to just add more regime profiles and a series of event chains. However, according to Vic, it appears that the autocracy regime in this DLC can drastically reduce these internal hassles, but at the cost of more debuffs. To that, I can only say thank you—I'd rather not have those debuffs.
